Holy Knights were not portrayed as absolure evil since Hauser's first appearence. And there crimes were not forgotten. Demons are still enemy, we just know that their enemies are not exactly good guys either.
It's not like in Naruto, where the bad guy gets a sad flashback after defeat and gets TnJ'd and immediately pardoned.
