He's not pretentious but he is absolutely mediocre.
He can't write endings. All of the themes he introduces in his manga fall flat because of this.
All of them are pretty straightforward too.

Aku no Hana and the split personality one had perfectly fine endings. The out of body one was pretty mediocre though.

I disagree. The fact that you even have such an opinion means I will never be able to satisfactorily explain to you why I feel he is a hack.
His artstyle appeals to me though. Even though the faces are a bit samey. And I liked his short poolside shaving manga.
