honestly if you look at it thematically its a really mature story about moving on with your life. This becomes central again and again in various yorozuya jobs and its a major part or Gintoki's character arc
What's it NOT about, exactly?
>mid-00s 4chan / general internet memes are now FB memes
welp, is the anything normie social media does NOT recycle?
I currently watching like 60 episodes so far. Most of the jokes are kinda lame, but I get a lot of valuable life lesson from it nonetheless.
The unstable japanese job market
Yeah, that's the joke. Is not about being funny per se, but creating the atmosphere that you share the joke with the characters even when it makes no sense.
It actually is, but it's ok, is not like I would expect our average shitposter to even understand what I just said.
>rely mainly on references
that's a valid point, but again, you just turn it into an opinion when you said you think is a low form of comedy.
Family guy is about the pathetic intends of a family guy surrounded by a family full of losers. Gintama is about a group of misfits bonding. If you want to compare Family guy with a japanese animation, then try Shin-chan, but Shin-chan is actually good.
It's because gintama finally became cool when it was not cool and now it's cool to hate on it cuz now it's cool. It finally passed that threshold years ago and nobody noticed, that's why.
Samon is the new Gintama and Gintama is the new cool shonen. That's it.
Is funny when you think that a lot of anons keep headcanoning about serious arcs where the characters become OP. But now that happened, all of them behave like they never wanted it.
Samon still hasn't crossed the line of serious arc. It just had some scenes mostly related to the cat under the rain. I don't know if the author is going to pick a serious arc, and seeing how Gintama's rank has been doing, maybe he is going to refrain for a while.
Legendary war veteran Gin with his two child and people around them at county colonized by alien
>War veteran with no job and lots of health issues gets in charge of a foreign girl, and becomes a teacher to an impoverished son of a military dead man.
Hilarity ensues despite it sounds like a drama.
Easy. It's about the Edo period, but in Modern Japan that just so happens to be the the same years the Edo period took place. By the time any of these guys become legends, I half expect the world to be more advanced than it already is.
>What is Gintama about?
naked man and shit
I can't believe friends got me to get this far into this show.
Gintama is about aliens who took control of ancient japan and takes place in edo or modern Tokyo and an ex-rebel tries to get his life back together
i think i'm not really sure anymore
