I liked the arc where she realized that she should embrace her envy and frustrations instead of ignoring them, but she hasn't really changed at all since that arc. She was pretty much exactly the same in Koimonogatari. The reason I prefer Kanbaru or Sengoku to her is that they changed and stayed changed after their arcs. Hanekawa is so static

It would also fuck the pacing to a lesser degree since there are clear break points in the story. The point of their arcs is completely different. Sodachi needs personal intervention and therapy while Hanekawa just needed to accept she wasn't at fault and swallow the fact that the attempts to connect with her stepparents and her adopting her abnormality of cutting her emotions to better suit their selfishness was the wrong path.

Sodachi on the other hand needs therapy badly to get her to stop being so willing to accept retribution to solve an issue when she isn't at fault.

They sound similiar, but Hanekawa had the more nuanced narrative. Sodachi was more tragic, but ultimately self inflicted tragedy. Hanekawa took so long because people were either too overwhelmed or over awed by her to approach her like a person instead of Saint (Araragi) or some demon in his head (Oshino), but she ultimately has greater personal strength.

How does a character acting in character mean bad writing. She is just more upfront, not suddenly going to become some super rude character to male an example, she was never like that thematically to use the same old gags some other characters do to stand out.

Plus, they cut out the parts of Tiger that directed showed how Hanekawa was dealing with two oddities inside her, instead of being like a majority if the other characters that had them removed or exorcised. Her butting heads in Ougi was another change, where normally she would simply just flick Ougi on the head and smile while making a lecture, she confronted her and lost her composure a bit.

And she is more "getting tired of your shit" in the commentaries. Less full smiles, more "let's take this outside" when pissed.
