How? everything gets fixed by MAGIC, it would be quite depressing if everything kept spiraling out of control

I watched this show several years after I started watching a lot of anime and I thought it was above average but it didn't elicit much of an emotional response in me as others seem to have. I think it was because of muh Key magic. It would have been better without the magic and it just ending tragically.
