Most of the running gags in Konosuba are aspects of the characters which work differently depending on the situations they're in. There's a good deal of variety because of this and it also makes the writing a bit tighter.

The initial arrest, aqua's escape plan, the interrogation scene + some character jokes for re-establishing their characters. Also great voice acting. Fun show, and along with LWA this might be contribute to making this the best season in several years.

The first episode was still funny, although I have to admit the QUALITY took me out of the moment occasionally. There's a difference between goofy in-between frames and straight up inconsistent freeze-frames. I'll still watch it for the humor and threads.

I didn't watch this show when it aired, so I figured I'd marathon it to see what that fuss is about before season 2. It's fun, and when I was done with the last episode I checked and ep 1 of S2 was out so I watched that and it was fine and flowed pretty nicely from S1. If you're let down by it, it's because the big gap you had to wait through caused your expectations to rise.

I have no idea why people are so "letdown" over this.
This was my most hyped anime of this season and I wasn't disappointed.
It picked up exactly where season one left off, still has the goofy low budget charm, the same humor is still there and the trial was done pretty well, I was expecting it to be one huge Ace Attorney wank and it's nice that it wasn't.
If this was still season 1 people wouldn't even feel any difference, what more do people want?
The QUALITY is the exact same from the previous season and DEEN's basically doing a fine job of giving the fans what they want, which is just more Konosuba.
Did people just hype the show so much that they over bloated their expectations or are these people just now watching the show and not enjoying it for what it is?

Well honestly even while watching S1 I felt the show had a surprisingly loose hold on keeping the drawings on-model. You can say that and people will assume that's a good thing because it means the animation must be good, since the defense of off-model drawings is usually that it's due to the animation, but in the case of Konosuba it felt to me, from the outset, more a sign that they're barely putting any construction into their drawings at all.

I don't think that's necessarily a good thing, but what I'm saying is it's tough to argue that S2 looks inconsistent when S1 barely looked consistent either. Rewatch season 1. That's all I can say. That weird face on Aqua also shows up in season 1. There are parts of season 2's episode 1 that also has Aqua in proper face model. That image you're pointing at is glaring, but yeah, that still happens in season 1.
