will we get a sequel?
what was your favourite episode?
i hope we get a sequel
my fav was the desert episode
More like Flip Floppers.
Could someone give me some good flip flap reaction images, I want to fill out my folder.
ps it makes me happy seeing a flip flappers thread every day
What did Salt try to accomplish by shooting his then possessed daughter?
Why aren't Salt and Mimi back together in the end?
Why didn't he raise Cockona himself?
What the fuck was Salt's problem?
What? Nobody ever made any reaction images of this show. These girls aren't very good at this kind of thing.
>What did Salt try to accomplish by shooting his then possessed daughter?
I think it was rather SEELE that was supposed to do something to Mimi, but we don't really know what exactly. Seems like he wanted to trap her inside that pyramid.
>Why aren't Salt and Mimi back together in the end?
Mimi doesn't seem to be able to enter the real world without any host body. She's a still a being of Pure Illusion.
>Why didn't he raise Cockona himself?
It seems like the KKK got hold of her again after Mimi flipped out.
>What the fuck was Salt's problem?
I don't understand.
The normalfag level of your op post is disgusting. The buttmad janny & modfag probably banned you so many times that you're scared as hell now and can only make generic threads like "what is your favorite episode/character?" and "what was your favorite episode?"
Of course, to make sure it is anime related and not off-topic, you just have to type the title of the anime either in the subject field or comment field. Even though you posted an anime picture.
Yes yes, be as normative, boring, uncreative and scared as you can be, your thread will get deleted otherwise and you'll receive a ban.
Just like I will for this post. I will be gone someday, but r/anime and its mods are here to stay.
There's plenty potential material for a sequel. to deal with. Oshiyama showed interest/intent in doing it although some people characterize it as a joke, who knows.
It's possible, but not likely at the moment. Though you know things can always change.
I personally don't have my hopes up at the moment, but do want to see it happen.
8 for sure. I loved the mecha fight, I loved the awesome fusions, I loved the buildup leading to it with Yayaka being pressured to face her feelings and admit she wanted to save Cocona.
And of course I also loved the swimsuits and those delicious camera angles.
I loved all episodes from 1 to 9 though, and I also loved all the parts focused on yayaka between 10 and 13 as well as the ending epilogue montage.
The animation wasn't expressive at all therefore there are no reaction images.
Get used to it. The director must be a fan of bait and switch because he does baits, double baits, and even triple baits.
A nice anon made this a few threads ago.
hope it still works https://www.dropbox.com/s/bh5m96gv3qqc13u/Flip.zip?
>PROCEED IDLE POSTING
Flip Flapping is gay!
rem is best girl.
Mindraped Papika is the best Papika.
Anon you made Papika cry.
Tie between 6 and 3 desu.
hahaha holy fuck
>The normalfag level of your op post is disgusting. The buttmad janny & modfag probably banned you so many times that you're scared as hell now
how the fuck did you read me so good
i came back about 2 weeks ago and since then i racked up 3 x blocks and 4 x 24hr bans!
>try to be hype and creative
>follow the "rules"
i don't care anymore i'm just keep posting however i can, i don't care, i don't care what you think, i don't care what the mods think (but i'd rather not be banned)
i'm going to post and talk about the things i love
and i love love love love love flip flappers!
The Gay episode.
>Yunyun jannai! Nyu wa Nyunyu
>apparently, oshiyama wants a second season
10~ years from now when Oshyiama is the most successful director and can do whatever he wants he'll make the Flip Flap sequel
>Netflix offers to fund a sequel to Flip Flappers
>But, all the fanservice will have to be removed. Even henshins will be less lewd.
Would you accept this?
Anyone else notice the wiki quotes?
I bring gifts from the holy land.
Any flipping kind anon that can flapping translate this?
Based on a recent survey with 1600 western fans replies, Flip Flappers was the most popular anime last season among males alone and was the 4th most popular anime among females alone (YoI, Haikyuu, 3gatsu were higher). Overall it was 2nd to YoI which is a pretty consistent parallel to /a/ last season.
Better start flapping since australia jusr figured iut how to flip.
Aaaannnd that's all from newtype. Opening animage now.
Definitely. The plot that gets gushed by the mid point is not as jarring when watched in one sitting.
A rewatch is also really good since the show is packed with visual information that helps unravel the underlying stuffs and foreshadows things greatly.
Get your Papikas and Coconas.
A lot of details regarding chara design as well.
Yayakas, Sayuris and heteros here as well.
Pure Papika is the best Papika.
And final parts from animage.
Side charas ans sexy Yuyu.
I loved flip flappers but let's be real here, it's never getting a sequel.
A lot of times in childhood friend stuff there's the idea that they both mutually had feelings so there might have been a chance at one point. But Cocona never liked Yayaka so she's been doomed from the start.
>But Cocona never liked Yayaka
That's not true at all.
My favorite episode is when it ended and no one had to make threads again.
No fucking sequel it's already finished
kidding, 5's my favorite but I really hate all of you faggots, thsese threads are cancer
Oh c'mon, Cocona blushed like a new bride whenever Yayaka's face got close to hers.
She wanted it bad, she just got it from the pupper first.
For all her tough front, Yayaka's the kind of girl that lets herself get moved on. She can't make the move herself. She and Cocona were just circling one another hoping the building sexual tension would eventually drag them down into a mutual explosion of lust.
Now she's back to being a wallflower and waiting for some dashing puppy of her own to make her forget all about the blue dork.
She's a 14 year old burgeoning lesbian. She just wanted her flips flapped by something pretty with two X chromosomes. Yayaka had her chance just like everyone else, and squandered it. The dog earned it.
That's the difference in their mindset
During henshin, Cocona and Yayaka's hair becomes longer because they're using Mimi's fragments so their hair becomes long like Mimi's. Papika's hair is already long so it doesn't change.
Something about eye design representing connector (XLR!). I never noticed that, but if you look at their eyes in transformed form, they have these three little dots around the pupil
The XLR connector is a bit of a stretch, but really nothing more outlandish than some other theories I read here.
During preliminary meetings PapiCoco were referred to as Sugar and Cocoa.
So, Cocona actually was Cocoa. I fucking knew it.
— Iso praises the Flip Flappers ED, and then: “Projects like Flip Flappers just aren’t the right venue when it comes to making use of Oshiyama’s talents. Obviously the fault lies with the producer(s), too; how could they see that ED then have him make some random moe anime from it?”
— Oshiyama talks about how the demands from up top put him in a pretty tight spot.
Kobayashi: “The fact that you still managed to make something that good despite all that is a testament to your skill.”
Oshiyama: “I don’t want to hear any complaints from anyone after all the effort I put in.”
— Oshiyama pumped out around 250 cuts of animation for the Flip Flappers finale by himself in a mere week.
Oshiyama: “I figured it’d be faster to just do it on my own than bringing in people unfamiliar to the show, then explaining everything and correcting their work. And hey, I’d get paid for those cuts as well.”
>Oshiyama: “I figured it’d be faster to just do it on my own than bringing in people unfamiliar to the show, then explaining everything and correcting their work. And hey, I’d get paid for those cuts as well.”
I like how he thinks.
>— Oshiyama pumped out around 250 cuts of animation for the Flip Flappers finale by himself in a mere week.
He did everything including in-betweens.
>それではフリフラトークショーで一番インパクトのあった話を記憶が薄れないひとつ。 最終話までのスケジュールがいよいよ押し迫ったある日のスタッフ、他のスタッフから大丈夫だよと言われたが、監督の机の上を見るとカット袋の山。 「間に合うの？」と聞いたら（続く）
>— Oshiyama and Yuasa are currently working on what seems to be a TV series, to be announced sometime in March (likely at AnimeJapan). They wouldn’t be surprised if it were rated R considering all the sexual content in it.
Are they planning to surpass episode 7 and 8?
Why do people think that PPK and YYK can be friends after YYK lost Cocona to her?
Coconut best girl, Good mimi a CUTE
Is this what their future home will look like?
Should Yayaka have kept her eyepatch in her henshin?
Yayaka was happy for them at the end when she saw them flying. She might be uncomfortable if Cocona and Papika get too intimate in front of her but otherwise she didn't have a problem with it.
>Yayaka and Nyunyu
I was googling something about another show, and for whatever reason a Reddit thread about FliFla sales came up in the results.
They think /a/ is trying to trick them, and that the show can't have sold only 883 (notwithstanding the fact that that's a fine number for an artsy project in 2016).
My favorite theory:
>Someyurifag posted the weekly rankings, even though FliFla hadn't been out for a full week!
>will we get a sequel?
Didn't this flop big dong dicks in sales? So much so that people are going to lose jobs
>what was your favourite episode?
3 and 5. I stopped watching at episode 9 though.
You mean that Yuyu is going to impregnate Toto.
Well there were some reasons to hope for more.
I'm looking forward to the twins' spinoff.
Don't believe what the ban evaders on /a/ post.
Oshiyama has already been hired by the producer of Tatami Galaxy for his next project. Check the magazine articles a few posts back.
You're still wounded in the real world if you got hurt in PI.
I fail to see why you couldn't be pregnant in the real world if you got impregnated in PI.
The best part is that Cockona impregnating other girls can only produce more girls.
None of them can go back to PI though, it's nice to think about but they can only get pregnant the normal way.
Face it, if Toto doesn't fuck the girls then some other guy will.
No, Cocona and Papika at least can go to PI whenever they want as long as they are together.
Most likely they can take the other three with them. Probably the Amorphious kids can go to PI by themselves. Yayaka would need to be taken there by others now there is no gate and no canned portal openers.
Unless FlipFlap restarts production.
I'm not talking about Cocona and Papika, talking about Yuyu/Nyunyu/Yayaka
It's Mimi's world and she doesn't want them there so there's really no reason to think they're getting in.
Cocona is so gay she's inviting Emma Watson's Secret Sex Tape back after 6 years.
Look at all that just friendship.
I can't even remember Yayaka talking to Sayuri or Iro once. This shipping has to stop. Yayaka will find a random boyfriend, probably from the boys only high school she will be attending to in two years.
Autistic swords don't have a heart.
>You're correct that Yayaka is straight
Do they upload pics of them buying ten copies of the same thing though?
The puppy was worthy of her Cocona and Yayaka was not a sore loser. They both had a mutual respect for each other by the end.
They had to earn their fair share of bonding by fighting each other and fighting together so it certainly didn't come easy.
Yayaka and Papika might as well be rivals on friendly terms.
Episode 1,3 and 5 were amazing and close to perfection
S2 would be pointless, there's nothing left to tell
Shit, 60 discs isn't even exceptional for somekindofthing
I loved her fighting style.
Henshin Yayaka's moveset and kit:
Super high speed movement and burst of speed that seemed like anime teleportation dashes.
Trail of light behind her as she runs which can explore afterwards, similar to her old cables.
Powering herself in energy and plunging forward as a projectile.
Explosive energy ball projectile, shot as a soccer ball.
Soft rays of light released by her whole body, able to remove bindings from allies without hurting them.
Very powerful explosive kicks.
All considered it's a pretty damn cool fighting style.
The true nature of pure illusion, Mimi and Cocona.
The potential for others to be (or have been) trying to tap into pure illusion. Possibly connected to bu chan's brain.
The still ongoing relationship between the characters, who are all still growing and going through new stages of their life together.
She should consider only wearing loose tanktops and panties more often.
She looked so good on them.
>How did I ever find this girl attractive?
Cocona looks at Yayaka like a dear friend. She's clearly concerned about her.
And Cocona is Yayaka's treasure.
If it had only been Cocona x Yayaka it would be like this guy said >>152235546
It would just be them in their own little world circling each other and not doing much like ep 5's time loop.
That's why the puppy won. She declared her love right away and did not try to play it down one bit.
>how could they see that ED then have him make some random moe anime from it?
Iso needs to go back to /v/.
Iso is the guy who started as a legendary animator but didn't do so well after his directorial debut, which is why he is so vocal against any tiny bit of red tape over Oshiyama (also great animator, directorial debut).
>you will never see salt push Cocona into her first day of highschool
>you will never see Salt and Mimi get cocona a birthday cake
>you will never see Salt modify buu into a pilotable mech to run amok in PI
I want it to show all the characters at least once, just to know what they're doing, and it'd be nice if they could also manage to hint or reference at what they did before.
Such as Sayuri and Hidaka being Salt's students.
Subtlety can go along way towards showing a lot in a short amount of time, just 1 scene, without having to say much.
I'd start it inside a pure illusion but without making it entirely clear that it's a pure illusion, it should look like normal sol until stuff starts to get whacky and crazy and it becomes obvious they were in pure illusion.
But they leave that pure illusion shortly afterwards, the entire section shouldn't be too long, just to show they still get to regularly go there and have fun and to start things on an upbeat note. Like the first episode, with Papika flying away on her board, that was a short but cool scene that added something fast paced and cool early, so the rest of the episode could have a slower pace until the end where it becomes hectic again.
Most of it should be on the real world to show the regular pace of life now that everything is over, they could even show something on the news that easily references some weird lab being closed down after a mysterious accident, just casually on a random TV like i the last episode.
But I'd like the focus on the characters. Something similar to last episode's epilogue montage in nature.
It might be better if they don't answer too many questions, or tackle anything too big because it wouldn't be possible to deal with it well in such a short time. Something like Salt telling Cocona he is her dad and then both of them reacting to it would be very heavy for just 1 ova.
Nice. Thanks for the translations.
Oshiyama is pretty autistic with his visual representation it seems. That or he's just explaining things after the fact since they look cool.
Sounds waterproof. If anyone doesn't accept the contract, they can take it up with the officiator.
That's how you can tell he enjoyed it.
He could come up with tons of random extra things with some logic behind them but not a real purpose.
I like the Mimi long hair = Henshin long hair explanation. Makes plenty of sense, since their last henshin is using Cocona's power and it doesn't change them at all. And there was a scene with Mimi wanting Cocona's hair to be long like hers.
Neato. Plugging in a machine translator for a rough thing. Thanks again for the time and effort.
Ideas up to the limit
The story of the stuffed "two people"
A mysterious girl with innocence, a cocona of papier power and honor student. "Flip flapper's" who chased two people's days against the backdrop of a strange world called "Pure Illusion", but after the ninth episode, after the ninth episode, where the "fragments of Mimi" they pursued came out From the bright adventurous act, the tone of the story turned serious. Director Kikuyama Kiyotaka explains why this kind of development started.
"It is something that we decided from a relatively early stage to make this kind of configuration. When I made the first half of the series a complete episode of one episode and I could stop tying the interests of those who saw it, As a big theme, as the theme originally, there are things such as growth of the junior high school students who are the heroes, whether to change somewhat, to go forward, such two people want to draw forward progress Breakthrough something - as a metaphor, I thought I could draw an intense presence of Mimi "
The "piece" that the two were collecting, its identity was nothing but the mother of Cocona .... There are probably many people who were surprised by the development.
"Junior high school students are also a tremendous time, and parents at that time think that they are going to be a confrontation for junior high school students, especially for girls, they are more mothers than fathers ... .... In the first place, the mother would like to ask her daughter to change her dress like a copy of herself, or to project his ideal, which is remarkable for Mimi and Cocona per episode 11, but so-called co-dependence relationship I think that it is a kind of creation, so I thought that if I draw children out of that relationship, I should be able to draw the way they go forward.
Nonetheless Mimi is never a character that ends in a villain. As a woman with more complicated nuances, she plays the final axis of "Flip Flapper's".
"I thought that through Mimi, it would be impossible for us to draw something like the facet of human beings, human beings are not so simple, which one is better or which one is bad is impossible to divide. Both are indispensable elements that make that person. Mimi himself, as a mother who thinks the child valued some, if there is a face as a woman on the other side, there is also a pure The mechanism of illusion is also to draw the multifacetality of the world, the world is not that simple, "
To put it simply, it can be said that Pure Illusion is a world that embodies the human mind. In the first half of the "Flip Flapper's", the horrifying landscape that seems to appear in horror movies as a world of robot animation, sometimes as a fantasic, occasionally fantasic, sometimes free-fashioned visuals, such multi- .
"In terms of pure illusion, I think that I tried not to make rules as much as possible, I think that it is the only rule that I can not put in what I thought was" I'm sorry "(lol) Because I wanted to incorporate various elements as much as possible and I wanted to work with various ways to enjoy. To that, I got an idea from Mr. tanu and a character design Kojima (Takashi), I feel like improvisation , I could stuff up to the last minute, I think that there is no original, it is good only by the original work. "
Not to mention the world of pure illusion, various mechanisms to color the screen are also one of the charm of this work. Many of them are said to include staff, including director at the stage of painting story work.
"Every time I have a theme I'd like to draw, I was conscious of trying to incorporate as much as possible about the ideas that derive from it, especially the first episode that I did a storyboard, the second episode In the screenplay stage, there was no element like tricksuit appearing in the play, for example, the idea of the bronze statue of "thinking person" was also inserted at the stage of the contest ( Lol)"
Although this work that the nerve has reached everywhere on the screen, but what is important is the relationship that the two girls, namely Cocona and Pavica, are in the morning of KIZUNA.
"I draw a character charmingly, because in this important part of this work I thought about what kind of part of human relations it seems like at the screenplay stage Yuni Aya is a relationship between such girls He is good at painting, so I got a lot of ideas. "
Two people, Yayaka and Papika, told that Director Oshiyama was "drawing with interest."
"Yayaka draws facial expressions and it's fun, it's full of humanity.Papica moves around in any case. While the characters were gradually formed at the stage of the script from planning, drawing a storyboard For example, I saw a scene left behind on an uninhabited island (4 th episode), is not it normal to face a troubled face? But, Papika has a flat face and fiddling with his throat (lol) At my pace every time Papika had parts healed in. I was pulled by her and initially thought There is a feeling that it became a "moving" work rather than it was "
Oshiyama, who has won his skill as an animator in numerous works such as "The Alchemist of the Steel" Holy Star of the Hill of Lament "and" Wind Standing ", etc. In "Flip Flapper's", I showed both pleasantness of moving animation like that and the psychological description of sensitive girls.
"Perhaps I am painting in this work to the extent that there is no director drawing a picture more than me.Work still remains at the time of receiving this interview (bitter smile), To the best of my ability I can say that it is a masterpiece work, and I will do my best to make it work as hard as possible to make people involved with me think that it is "good"
That won't matter to a horny Cockona.
It's a cute girl, she was in the show and they saw each other, more than what was shown on screen.
That's enough to earn her the C.
>there are things such as growth of the junior high school students who are the heroes, whether to change somewhat, to go forward, such two people want to draw forward progress
This is one of the things I loved about the show, how despite being so episodic it still dealt with specific struggles of the characters in every episode. Inner struggles, conflicts as they had their development or faced new hardships, etc.
Those bits about Mimi not really being a villain, and instead showing the different sides of a person, and of her as a mother I think is something that really tried to get through in the last part and was easy to miss. Many of us did, I'm guilty of that the first time I saw it.
But upon rewatches it becomes very clear through all of her characterization.
And that about pure illusion is great to hear. That he actually wanted to make the concept of Pure Illusion and the premise of the show something that would allow him to insert, reference, tackle and utilize all sorts of things he liked which he delivered via all the cool episodes of the show, which is my favorite thing about it.
Episode 3 must have been one of his favorites I bet, because it's one that had the most of that stuffed into it and so much animation was dedicated to bringing it to life.
>Every time I have a theme I'd like to draw, I was conscious of trying to incorporate as much as possible about the ideas that derive from it
>While the characters were gradually formed at the stage of the script from planning, drawing a storyboard For example, I saw a scene left behind on an uninhabited island (4 th episode), is not it normal to face a troubled face? This is interesting, I'm trying to interpret it and what I'm getting from it is that the characters evolved in his head as he was writing them, as if they were not set in stone initially, but the way he figured they'd react to different situations gave him an understanding of how they would be like on the inside, which further guided their evolution and how they ended being presented.
That's one of the great things about an anime original.
They can have an idea, and from that idea they can reshape the characters, and take what they learned about them back to the story. It helps the characterization become stronger, more consistent, it helps the characters feel more genuine.
Your dedication makes the flips flap to you.
I feel bad for that one autist who still ships the sword with Chris
>all that best friendship
I gosh darn hope we get more shenanigans.
The Mech episode
I wish they had actual patreon options.
I cannot buy 300 bucks of discs imported from japan, and I'd hate to see half of that money wasted on the importer company.
But I'd gladly have donated at least 50$ of my money to Flip Flappers.
Even if it serves no purpose, it would make me feel good inside.
I've never buyfagged anything so I'd have to look up what's the best way to get it shipped. I know there are guides everywhere so I should do that for at least one of the volumes. I might buy the volume with ep 5 or 8, those were my favorites.
I think that Flip Flappers may actually be the gayest show I've watched that didn't have an actual kiss. I didn't think I'd ever find something that surpassed Symphogeah and YuYuYu
I don't know which YuYuYu you watched but the one that I watched was pretty fucking gay
Flip Flappers had such exquisite moments all the way through, it starts so strong on ep 1, stays strong and ends strong. Yeah no kiss and yet it was still so yuri, that's sort of an accomplishment in my book.
Not for a second was their dynamic not full of love being openly displayed. Sometimes it was a bit one sided, but it was always there.
That comic is also so cute too.
with Cockona around not for long
You might be on to something here anon.
You might want to try Super Lovers
Explain Yuyu's arm.
Her arm was perfectly fine under the cast. The cast was just hiding the apparatus for her mechanical arm to fit over, so that she can suit up and enter PI battle-ready at a moment's notice.
That seems like a likely explanation.
We do we ever see her full arm later?
If all we ever get to see is her hand she could have had other mechanical things around the arm itself for the metal arm to plug.
I don't like your girlfriend
No way, no way
I think you need a new one.
That snapshot is from when they were on that pure illusion where everything lost its pure illusion "touch" (just like Uexkull turning into a normal rabbit), so I suppose Yuyu's arm lost it too.
Your memory is off. That shot is from after Cocona and Papika leave the boring PI and return to the real world. It's essentially the closest thing the amorphous trio get to an epilogue.
Yeah, it wasn't much, but it was good enough. Though it'd be nice to see what they're up to afterwards too.
Despite not being main focus characters they still got a lot of screentime and had some good moments.
it's hiding her arm device
the cast even vibrates and rings to let them know they have a mission or that amorphous has been detected
>watch Flip Flappers
>had huge amounts of fun with these threads, couldn't get enough of you meme loving fucks
>great overall, but the ending didn't have a big impact on me, and I just felt like moving on
>next season, excited to watch Little Witch Academia
>first episode was great, can't wait to discuss here
>threads are complete and utter fucking DOGSHIT compared to Flip Flap threads
I guess I'm sticking around here for awhile longer
Nyunyu wasn't overplayed though, they just used her when they needed, or to show her off a bit and she proved a few points about the KKK's methods merely by existing, got used for a few things and managed to be a fun extra character.
She felt sudden during her introduction by design because she was supposed to be a shock to Yayaka.
What was wrong with the end? Everything turned out OK (Cocona gets to visit her mom whenever she wants, she can go on adventures with Papika and Yayaka now, etc). The only ambiguous element was how Salt seemingly decided he wants to continue being a deadbeat dad.
>end didn't have a big impact on me
watch the whole thing again
it's like watching a whole new show when you see the amount of foreshadowing and details they put in right from the start
When i first watched it a lot of things just seemed like they could be there to make the worlds look more abstract and fantastic but a lot of it is foreshadowing.
like your understanding of the relationship with her """grandma""" is completely different second time aroundwhich ended up making me appreciate the final episodes a lot more the second time through
I liked that scene.
That she wasn't really happy to be a tool for them and was going along with it while basically forcing herself to it.
Yayaka was always the rebellious one among them so they could just play the more well behaved role but at that point she just didn't care anymore, and without Yayaka to call out their bullshit for them she did it on her own.
Actual character development.
I recommend watching it again, definitely.
My reaction to the ending was similar the first time I saw it but I rewatched a lot of it and stuff clicked more now.
The ending plays with many of the show's themes very well, it's very good in that regard once you can see everything it's trying to do. They could have done a better job with the pacing so it easn't so easy to miss on those elements though, the fact that they crammed so much near the end made it necessary to go back to it at least a second time to really take all of it.
The one thing they could have had, which might have been more rewarding in some ways, would have been action vs Mimi but it seems they really didn't want to play her as a villain so it makes some sense that the confrontation vs her was so indirect, it was mostly fighting her minions and her monsters or dealing with her influence on a mental and emotional level than actually fighting her.
Perhaps they could have aimed for a better balance between typical anime action and all the psychological and emotional shit they tried to pull of but overall it was still pretty damn good.
I miss that side of Papika, before she got her Papikana memories.
When she was 100% socially retarded and immature.
Post Papikana Papika is still cute, genki, sweet, loyal, pure girl but she's not such a dumb odd puppy anymore.
