It really wasn't THAT special, even Ryousuke says so at one point.

I've driven a very well-done clone of Takumi's setup and it was an absolute riot to drive but not all that fast. (And actually probably better than Takumi's car if anything, since it had 20 year newer suspension and tires.)

Meh not really, I think the only cars in the show that would've lost to it with equal drivers were the 180SX, the MX5, and maybe Shingo's Civic. That's especially true of the first few seasons when it was still running a 16v that even with expert tuning would maybe put 140hp to the wheels in a ~2400lb car. (In other words, it was still slower in a straight line than a stock S2000 or Integra Type R or Fiesta ST or whatever.)

The whole point was that dagumi himself was the monster, not the car.
