What was his position in Celes though? In the first volume, pretty sure the first or second chapter, Chii calls him king, but he calls Ashura king as well. Was he king of Celes or just a wizard, or did he retain his title of being a prince?

Doesn't really matter now that both of the countries he was some sort of royalty in are dead and gone. I've got all the volumes and you're right. In the end bonus pages it refers to him as the ruler of Celes as well, but that should be king Ashura, unless Ashura made him king. Or they have two kings. However, Ashura was put asleep after going crazy and killing everyone, and with him asleep his protege was put in a position of power. (Not that he had anyone to rule over.)

I believe Fai was made a prince in Ceresu, alongside being a powerful mage. Which begs the question is royalty still royalty even if they're in a different country? Is royalty still royalty if their country got absolutely BTFO?
