There are some shows I know I'm gonna watch like Konosuba and LWA

And there are a lot of shows I watched the first episode of like Ururu and Youjo Senki that I kinda liked.

But I'm at the point where I'm wondering if I should only watch the shows I'm really digging and just forget the 6/10 filler in favor of my backlog. Well, I know what a responsible anime watcher would do but I feel callous for not giving the alright shows at least a fair shot to woo me to the end.

To answer the question there's 5 I'm watching for sure and possibly 12 I'll keep up with.

13, waiting for at least 5 more. That's 5 more than my last year average so 2017 looks good so far.

14 currently on trial mode. I'll probably have dropped about half of those after 3 weeks have passed. There are still a handful I haven't even checked out though.

3 episodes of 7-10 series is 21 to 30 episodes. It doesn't scale well when you're trying to evaluate shows in batches, just equates to a lot of wasted time. Also I can think of very few shows where the 3rd episode made a difference in how engaging it was. Madoka is a famous example but Madoka was already a very visually appealing show with an interesting atmosphere before Mami got her head bitten off. No, typically if something is shit it will stay shit by 3 episodes, and if something is only "okay" it will stay "okay" by 3 episodes, and 13 as well.

tl;dr- You're not telling me anything I don't already know, and I've given this matter far more thought than you obviously.

Fuuka is okay. LWA had kind of a shitty start. I'm starting to suspect Trigger ought to have left it alone and not tried to cash in on it.

Is there anyone who still watches 15+ anime a season after say 5+ years of watching anime?

I used to binge like that back when I was getting into anime, but as the years kept coming my ability to keep up with that many shows dwindled to about the point where I'm only watching 2-3 shows on average (last season for unusual with 6) a season.

None.

It's a problem. Used to follow several series at a time, look forward to the days of the week they came out. But it's all gotten too... inbred, I guess. Recent anime just seems to be based on other anime, it's all a copy of a copy of a copy. The characters all act like anime characters, rather than like people. It's formulaic, it's derivative, it's embarrassing. Even the "artistic" stuff is artistic in well-established, predictable ways.

I need something good to watch, dammit. Let me know if anything surprises you this season.
