Wait, what did he mean by this?
>The way he said it
Knowing Izumo doesn't have a chance in hell of winning the best husbando ;_;
Read the manga up until they get on the train and you should be perfectly caught up with what is canon and whats not. It's not even a long read to that point, you can start with the Amaimon fight in the forest
I haven't watched the anime version, and it's been ages since I read impure king in the manga, but I do like that the author subverted the main girl being the only one to stick up for him and had Izumo do it.
Im surprised season 2 just jumped straight in like that.
I expected it to at least open with the fight between Rin and Amaimon since thats where Season 1 diverged.
Especially since most anime tend to treat the audience like goldfish, constantly flashing back. And in this case it would make sense to at least say where the story is exactly since its making half of S1 noncanon
Shiemi a shit
Well Shiemi straight up said that she doesn't want anyone right now. And it seems to have been shipping her more with Yukio.
Though Izumo has been shipped pretty hard with Shima so theres that too.
Actually no, surprisingly.
The series is filled to the brim with cliches but they worked quite well and the character interactions are well written, if you can get past the fact that it's a Naruto reskin it's a solid series.
Nips read the manga after watching S1. I only see confused people on crunchyroll/plebbit. The worst are those who think we're getting the anime original stuff retold and it's "unnecessary". It was pure cancer to read through.
Thoughts on the opening?
Like that they went back to UVERworld, and the visuals are lovely. Is there gonna be a second cour? Think they'll bring back Rookiez too?
Eh, S1 covered the canonical stuff generally faithfully.
Besides most of the stuff before Kyoto was pretty slow, I'm fine with them just starting here. Tho a little recap wouldn't have gone wrong.
butcha u hmanga with her when
Okay so quick question. I'm going to (partially) rewatch the first season, just to get me in the right mindset for s2. Does anyone have an actual episode that the anime-original bullshit starts or is it basically right after the flashback in s2e1?
obviously OP 1 with the "rap"
Also wheres the qt on the left?
Basically watch until the scene with Rin, Yukio and whats her face in the training room. After that I think its all new stuff. Though the court scene plays out a lot differently in the anime than it did in the manga so you can basically skip the whole "reforging the sword" stuff.
Izumo a cute.
A very cute.
Blue Exorcist has lots of cute girls.
Dunno how far you are but the godly blood in her bloodline is so diluted that its almost not there anymore.
She isn't even a suitable host for the fox god. It would have destroyed her body in minutes
Yeah but she was still possessed for however long, even if it was tearing her body apart. Would've been neat imo if that destructive failed possession left some permanent remnant on her. Like a tail.
That was also pretty cool.
Yea would have been nice if she kept the ears or tail considering her ancestor took demon fox knot.
Legit forgot how good the first few episodes of the anime were.
You know she's going to end up get nothing in the end right?
N O T H I N G
Hell if anything the whole story about her being capture shows that she really is alone with no one to help her but herself with just some friends, and don't even try to say she'll end up with anyone since at this point she's just as likely to "end up" with bald boy.
Pretty sure we all know she won't end up with Rin. Alone would be preferable to the two the author has thrown moments with her.
Especially considering Shima's role in that one arc
Rin's got the whole Naruto-style backstory and attitude that every other generic shounen hero has.
His brother's a faggot.
The first 3 episodes do several things I was expecting just from convention. Wisecracking Hughes clone who acts as a father figure and mentor is killed while protecting the mc. Brother acts like a retard instead of trying to console Rin in any way. The delinquent that Rin fought was corrupted by something and brought back to fuck with him.
Seems pretty standard to me.
I like Shima though.
But Rin would be preferably, even as unlikely as it is. Unless the story makes a point of of Shiemi not liking him as more than a friend. Which I could also see.
That's the point though, she WILL be ending up alone at this point since her only real choices she has have already pissed off since she'll never touch spy boy and big dude ran off to have fun time with lightning man.
A: Its not like his arrangement with Lightning is gonna be permanent.
B:Shes never even shown interest in him. The teasing with her has been with Rin, Shima, and some yuri baiting with Shiemi
That made me think of something.
Since they've established that stronger demons are incapable of holding human forms forever becuase their power destroys the body, is Rin gonna end up too strong for his body?
If he becomes powerful enough to defeat Lucifer, then logically his body won't be able to stand his own power.
Visuals are really good. The overall feel of the song reflects the arc's theme really well, vocals and composition could be a little better though.
I'm sad that 2nd best boy isn't present this arc and won't be able to hear his voice as I recently found out that the same voice actor also voiced the best boy (old man)last season.
Rin (and by extension, Yukio) are special cases.
They were born as Demons in the Human World, rather than being born in the Demon World and having to Possess Humans. Thus, their bodies are naturally able to handle the vast power that would normally destroy humans if possessed by demons of their heritage.
I've reread the whole arc yesterday and it's quite surprising that
I missed some very important details; like with Bon's father thought there is only one son and Yukio's subtle angst in very little panels here and there; when I first read the chapters.
Too much bridge. Not enough chorus. There is absolutely no hook, and that's exactly what a fucking OP needs.
Visuals are pretty good. But only the first part. Everything after that is a absolute mess (until it relates back to the earlier visuals) that has nothing to do with anything. Reminds me of some dumb fucking AMV.
Like a 6/10 if I had to put a number on it.
It's more like Shiemi has no real concept of romance.
>Rin who is basically perfect husbando in human form
>Can cook healthy and delicious meals
>Is well-practiced in recycling and other good money-managing habits
>Has an eye for interior decorating
>Good sense of humor
>Can and would fight his way to Hell and Back if necessary to save you
How can other guys even compete?
>has contagious smile
>voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto
Others can still compete for the 2nd place.
>Rin will never call you by your first name and look at you pic related
just kill me now
I liked that
he was voiced by the guy who voiced Jack Russel in the english dub. I watched the english dub, bite me. I hope they get the same actors back for S2. At least for Rin and Yukio, I honestly don't care about the rest.
The English VA pool is as unstable as a house of cards and has the integrity of a pornstar taking 5 dicks at once.
They will get the lowest bidder who sounds decent.
Just go ahead and take the lead, Izumo!
>then Rin dumps her for Shiemi in the finale
Ok now this is plausible since she's the biggest punching bag of the story. Why not give her some kind of hope just to rip it away in the end.
>Why not give her some kind of hope just to rip it away in the end.
>Spends most of her adolescence in utter misery, always keeping people at arm's length, distrusting everyone desperately trying to reunite with her little sister
>Finally defeats the man who ruined her life
>Discovers her little sister was safe and sound the entire time
>Doesn't even remember her when they do reunite
Been there, done that.
Its not that hes too mature for his age.
Its that hes TRYING to be more mature than he is. He is trying to cover up his insecurities and look more adult than he is. But then he fails and gets pissed about it.
Really if anything hes more immature than Rin. Rin hasn't jumped off a building/tried to shoot himself to prove hes better than someone.
He nearly signed a contract with a demon for more power which involved knocking up Shura then killing her down the line. If Rin hadn't gotten in position when he did, Yukio probably would have gotten the full contract. Shima said as much.
He clearly hasn't gotten over anything.
But how did Shura feel about it? I mean, she has to have babies in order to be immortal or whatever, right? So it works out as a win-win for her and Yukio aside from the demon thing.
Her contract before it was dissolved was she gets super fighting skills and that magical katana.
But in exchange she has to have a child by 30 who will physically be a clone of her, and then at 30 she dies.
Ignore these retards. Its shit. There's a reason why nobody talks about the manga or why the threads don't reach the bump limit. Its completely unremarkable and the author doesn't know how to commit to anything.
So when will we see all 8 demon kings? We got to see Astaroth of Rot, Amaimon of Earth, Samael of Time/Space and Lucifer of Light, we still need to see Azazel of Spirit, Iblis of Fire, Egyn of Water and Beelzebub of Insects.
Has the manga already revealed/confirmed on what Rin's domain is? This page pretty much confirmed that he's 8th king/demon god as Amaimon was the youngest/7th.
Rin hasn't displayed any particular proclivity outside of the use of Satan's Blue Flames. Though this is something that neither Lucifer, nor Samael or Amaimon have done.
It was mentioned in one of the Tank Q&As that Satan's tail itself is composed of Blue Flame, and exposition about Shima declares the "God Flame" to be the most powerful among demons. So it's possible that Rin, with his free use of it, is perhaps a "Successor" or "Heir"?
Rin is pathetically weak compared to Amaimon who can't even lift a finger against his older brothers so a successor is far off.
The latest chapters hints on Amaimon joining the main group. Mephisto surely won't just let him roam around the campus for no reason. There's also the fact that Bon's with Lightning now and Shima is working as usual so there is some space in the main group or he might be related/used to Shiemi's upcoming character development.
>reading the manga again
>forgot how much I dislike Shiemi
Man I just can't stand her whole character. Just everything about her seems to rub me off the wrong way.
That's because everything about her character is just a shitty moe love interest for the main character.
She has main girl syndrome, where the character is forced to be nothing but kind, naive and moe so that people can accept her as the MC's love interest. It's the blandest type of female character in anime and I hate it too.
as a hostto Satan, yes. When Amaimon first met Rin, he wasn't even surprised or didn't even noted about Rin's ability to wield blue flames at all so I don't think that it's much of a big deal.
It would be more accurate to say that Rin is the most similar to Satan's abilities, rather than the closest.
As has already been stated, he's still the weakest son by a significant margin. The only way that he can be compared to Satan is that they both wield blue flames.
I though this first S2 episode was way to diisjointed, the part with toudo's appearance tottaly lost it's punch and the flashback was so awkward the soundtrack couldn't keep up.
hoping at least the 2nd episode should run smoother.
Yeah. The place they chose to dive right in felt like a bad choice. I wish they'd pulled it back a bit to just after Rin's fight with Amaimon, and the meeting with the Grigori. Rin's return to his classmates before Shura drags him off to start the candle training would have made for a better establishing scene.
I also didn't like that they cut the part where Mephisto sneaks into the class and announces the Kyoto trip, and the natives reaction to it. Bon's especially.
If they didn't want to reanimate the grigori scene, maybe they should have started with the train trip and then the rest of the episode would be about how they got here, recalling bits of the crazy rin after the amaimon fight rather than the fight itself, then yukio's explanation to the ex-wires, then rin's training, then the introduction to the eyes of the impure king ending the episode with rin telling yukio that he will surpass him and rin staring out the train while yukio stares out of the car.
At least that's how i would have done it.
How popular is this show actually in the west?
It never was all that popular here atleast.
Threads were dying before 300 posts when that was still the limit and nothing has changed.
Feels like only Japan cares.
And what makes it more annoying is the author having her "not interested in romance" when that's literally what she exists for and much of the manga is spent showing her getting flustered over Yukio and then Rin. Fuck off with your insulting stalling tactics. Only way to redeem this character is to kill her off.
The titty monster is the only good thing about this series, hope we get some decent doujins
>Shiemi will obviously fall for Rin
Pretty clear she already has but we're going down the typical shounen route of cockblocking/misunderstandings/forced drama until the very end.
>Autistic screams about Defense Devil echo in the distance.
>Shiemi will obviously fall for Rin.
I will summon our own demon Diaz to make sure that doesn't occur. I rather lone wolf end for Rin rather than be with that moe blob weed.
I don't remember much of the first series, skimming through the episodes now.
Can someone give me a good recap of season 1 and how it moves to this new show?
Basically all thats relevant for s2 is
>rin is son of satan
>his twin Yukio is already an exorcist and secretly resents Rin
>none of rin's classmates know he is son of satan
>then they find out
>now except for izumo, they are all giving him the cold shoulder
>shura is now training Rin to control his flames
And i thiiink thats about all you need to know for s2
They were making a clone for Lucifer to possess as his new body so he wouldn't destroy the human world, but Satan possessed their ultimate success instead leading to the blue night
King class demons are butthurt the bodies they possess rot and they return to being concepts with no senses or ego if they die, which terrifies them. Mephisto is fine because his power of time lets him make his body last despite being a king. Lucifer is the most butthurt of them all and wants to destroy the world so everyone equally returns to being concepts instead of him alone since his bodies don't last long and hurt like hell every time. Mephisto was researching clones to appease the other kings but most of them were failures who couldn't be possessed and had their own personalities. Also Rin and Yukio's adopted father was an Azazel clone, Arthur is a Lucifer clone.
He also resents him though. He has a,lot of feelings about Rin. Hes all over the place. He resents that he has to take care of rin (even though thats just in his head.) He resents that Rin got to grow up normally while he worked his ass off becoming an exorcist. And he resents that Rin is stronger than him as much as he envies Rin for that
Yeah, I really dont care about shiemi subplots. She and Koneko are the two least interesting characters, but at least hes usually off to the side. But shes supposed to be basically a lead character with Rin and Yukio
Though I expect Koneko to get an arc about him soon since basically everyone else has gotten one.
I'll try. I have no pass though so it'll take a while.
Note to self: don't ever, ever dump shit without a pass.
I was wondering this as well as I'm dumping it. I wonder when did Lucifer started having daddy issues; changing his goal from destroying everything to bringing his father to earth.
Yea like the others, he always existed, just in a concept form of being evil incarnate or creator of the demons(Gehenna itself). They gave him a body which gave him a personality beyond the concept of "dark lord of all demons" by filling it with likes, dislikes, and quirks
>when did Lucifer started having daddy issues
When he realized that daddy could fit into an actual body, so why blow up the world when you can just made daddy real instead? It was already explained earlier that being physically real was better than anything else and that they only started thinking about destroying everything when they realized they couldn't keep the thing they wanted most. If they can manage to make the most powerful of them all real though then things might be able to be different but at the same time it might just end up destroying everything anyways just by doing it.
So basically its a Win-Win for Lucifer.
If he can succeed in realizing a functional body for Satan, one for him would be no problem, and everything's hunky-dory.
If he fails, the process will destroy everything and he won't have to worry about it anymore.
Pretty good plan overall.
Well theres the Impure King, which is whats being animated at the moment. Then some stuff, then the Izumo's clan/Shima is a traitor arc. Then the Shura's contract/Yukio is fucking insane arc.
And I think thats basically all of the major arcs now, with a few filler bits here and there, like everything with Rin's non-exorcist friend.
Manga/LN success doesn't automatically mean new seasons.
Sure. There is that whole production commitee stuff. But it's not like everyone sits at one table and everyone evenly splits the profits.
Studios want those BD sales because thats how they make most of their money at the end.
Amazon versions are up but its too early to say anything. Everything is still low ranked.
True, but on the other hand her mother died, her sister has zero memory of her, and she with through a lot of pain getting possessed by the fox spirit.
Also basically all that time she suffered under that agreement was all for nothing.
Maybe it'll help finish off the remaining Shima shippers.
Considering all the suffering he caused her, nearly killing her, and getting her mom killed while giving 0 fucks. Not even a shred of guilt up to our current chapter.
If anything its part of what grows their relationship. He talks about how they are very similar and how even with all his flirting, he was actually attracted to her.
And then she seems to agree with him in the end.
I can't see the arc being animated for a single season full of character torture. It would also feel off if they tie it together with the rest of Illuminati arc as Izumo is the main focus on thid pmr. A 4 part OVA/single movir might do the trick.
>At least it ended with her knowing her mother still loved her, and that her sister is doing well.
Those are two things that made it more painful for her though, especially on the second one.
She agreed with his perception of her but doesn't like it in the end and changes by pulling down the walls she puts between others and herself.
Not even he knows which side he prefers.
Holy shit, the author really succeeded at making the most unlikeable villain.
Hes ugly as sin, a huge asshole, a flaming faggot (and this is coming from a faggot), and God damn I hate him
Don't even bother trying he's as good as dead with all the death flags piling on him. He's pretty much locked into the suicide to save everyone role at this point.
Yeah, I hope they don't plan to reuse any of it for the manga.
I mean at least this chapter shows Satan's origin is much different than the anime only stuff. But if we have to put up with some demon loving mary sue as Rin and Yukio's mom, I wont be amused.
I mean, this chapter really does raise a number of questions regarding just what the fuck happened regarding Rin and Yukio's birth.
We now know that Satan is Hell itself incarnated into Human Form, an event so catastrophic that its occurrence caused the deaths of numerously spiritually powerful people around the globe. And in the brief time this God-in-Mortal-Flesh walked the Earth, he... what? Raped a chick?
Its a good question. I assume we will find out soon.
I could see a variation of that, except its clear his conscious is not inside them since he is currently in gehena and possessed their dad.
They established her name ages ago though, like before the anime reached that point right?
Im assuming everything involving her father is basically noncanon since he was in the anime only prologue.
Considering before she was introduced demons were just the monsters that had to be exorcised, then after she was introduced and wanted to be friends with demons and that was seen as completely right and pure.
Then suddenly for the rest of the show demons are just misunderstood and exorcists are wrong for killing them and can't we all just get along?
To be exact, her name was revealed at the very point where-in the anime began to deviate from the manga, the Grigori Hearing following Rin's fight with Amaimon.
Chapter 14: The Wager
>"It is said that fifteen years ago Shiro Fujimoto expelled a child of Satan carried by Junior Exorcist Second Class Yuri Egin. Do you mean to say the reports are false?"
>"Yes. She gave birth to fraternal twins."
Yeah, it's quite boring and unoriginal even for battle shounen. Author tried too hard to come up with the next Naruto/Bleach/One Piece and it's just so underwhelming in comparison.
No, no. The point of a mary sue is to always be right and perfect. You can't be a mary sue if you aren't perfect.
If its just pointing out that some demons are good/on the side of men, author can just show it through having some demons on the side of humans, which is already happening.
She IS perfect and right though, thats what I'm saying. You are supposed to agree with her the entire time, even though what she says goes against what the story has been saying the entire time. She single handedly changes the morality of the story.
Yes, but Rin's demon heritage has never been seen as a good thing, aside from the power it gives him.
There are good demons in the series, but hunting demons was never seen as wrong. Yet as soon as she shows up, suddenly all demon hunting is wrong.
And Mary Sues can die. If they die in self sacrifice or tragically, it enhances their mary sue-ness because it means they were just to pure for this world.
You just tried to ignore what's the good thing about Rin's demon heritage.
Also Mary Sues don't sway the moral of the story like this: they flow with the moral of the story themselves. Always the champion of the story.
And finally if you kill a Mary Sue you basically removed another permanent attribute of a Mary Sue, which is invincibility. Thereby removing all her Mary Sueness and setting her up as a "tragic heroine" instead.
The illuminati weren't even in the anime. Everything after the first half of the season is noncanon.
And while Lightning likes demons, he also has zero problem with killing them, like how he just exorcized those slyphs he had summoned when they cut Rin.
SHE WAS A CHAMPION OF THE STORY. SHE WAS BASICALLY ANIME MARY
And what you are saying implies mary sues are good writing. The morality just follows whatever the mary sue believes. So it can even change to suit the mary sue's views.
In fact seeing as it was the first time Satan had a body and developed an ego somebody had to have pushed him to do the Blue Night. >>152047530
maybe he was like a pure shota in an ss doujin and she coaxed him with the new feeling in his pants
>SHE WAS A CHAMPION OF THE STORY. SHE WAS BASICALLY ANIME MARY
>She changed the morals of the story
And no, I'm not implying Mary Sues are good writing. I'm implying you're using the term wrong because you're putting up an imperfectly dead character, with actual no purpose except being part of the origin of the MC, as some Mary Sue to sound cool while you shit on the anime, there by making anyone who has legit criticism of the anime look bad. Is that so hard to understand?
>The illuminati weren't even in the anime. Everything after the first half of the season is noncanon.
uh no shit
my reply was to
> But if we have to put up with some demon loving mary sue as Rin and Yukio's mom, I wont be amused.
implying it'd be bad if she was some demon lover in the actual story
