Yeah, that is true, they did bungle it somewhat. The point, though, is that that subplot wasn't even necessary. Besides giving Charles a ridiculous ulterior motive, which frankly only made the show worse, the knowledge about the existence of mass consciousness or its relation to Geass has no bearing on the story.

I suppose there's little harm if they somehow manage to gracefully integrate the mythology into the story and expand on it a bit, but I don't think it's necessary. It's better to omit it then shit the bed again.

Charles was always going to have a supervillain-y plan, one way or another. I agree that the supernatural stuff wasn't the core of the story , but that's why it was nice that they didn't end the show with the Ragnarok Connection.

However, a fair number of people did want or expect more supernatural material and so it's a given they will eventually get something with a little more information.

I don't really know anything about astronomy, I assumed they kept the symbolism super simple and just had the planet be a stand-in for the Roman/Greek "god" it's name after.
Jupiter/Zeus is the leader of the gods, but doesn't really fit as a representation of the human collective unconscious the way it was presented in the show, in my opinion.
Saturn/Cronus is Zeus's father, and father/ancestor of many of the gods, who was accidentally later associated with Time as well sometimes, who ruled the world before being overthrown by Zeus.
Uranus/Caelus, however, is the primal god of the sky, who with Gaia fathered all the titans, cyclopses, and either directly or indirectly all the gods.

I might've read too deep into Jupiter's presence as a symbol is all.
