It's been over 30 years and HnK is still the best shounen fighting manga of all time and almost the best manga of all time. Is anyone else even trying?

Sometimes I think maybe JJBA Part 1 didn't rip off HnK as much as I remember but this could literally not look more like Jonathan vs Dio if it tried.

Many things were influenced by the art style of HnK. Guts was another one.

should I watch the anime or read the manga?

I would advise reading the manga first since it's much better paced and the artwork is stunning. After that I would still recommend watching the anime because despite the cheap animation at times it has a great OST and quite literally the GOAT VA casting of any anime series (in particular Kenji Utsumi as Raoh and Banjou Ginja as Souther but all of them are good). Also the anime is full of filler and its shit you can skip if you have read the manga.

For both the manga and anime, the second part is no way near as good as the first.
