Ok, so what? They catch on that Kira is the bad guy, he cuts off his hand to escape Echoes, and releases SHA while running away, as it is, Josuke and Okuyasu have no idea what SHA does, Jotaro tells them its a bomb, and Josuke fixes it so it follows Kira.

As it is, I don't think Okuyasu really had a need to use the Hand to catch up to Kira faster, even if he could do that, Kira was injured and basically bleeding to death due to cutting off his hand, I can't imagine they thought he'd get very far, and he really didn't.

And as for after they got to Aya's they got distracted by her injuries, Kira gets out the back door, and then Aya explodes, by that point Kira's already blended in with the crowd, so no use for the Hand then, either.

I think your issue anon is that you're expecting Jojo to be more like typical shonen anime where character development is more explicit. Something like dragon Ball where characters can completely 180 on their personality after certain events.

DiU is one of those shows where a lot of shit is going on, but there is actually no real tension. Nobody important died and you always knew that Jotaro would save the day. Even downgrading his The World and letting him get injured didn't do much to remove his savior status. After everything was done, I felt like nothing dangerous actually happened in Morioh. Just another day of killing some madman.

Phantom Blood and Battle Tendency exceeded in one thing and that was creating a tense setting where bad things actually happen and are not just a projection. The first two parts didn't merely pretend that the main cast was in danger with vague scenes (the best example in DiU probably being the "kidnap" of Josuke's mother - in the end, it was a bunch of hot air), but they really were. Hell, the protagonist in PB dies. This might sound edgy but I think well executed death scenes (Ceasar..) have much more impact than anything else. In that sense, DiU was very fun but lacked this essential ingredient of real danger.

Caesar had the most forced death in the series though. His relationship with Joseph wasn't developed at all and all he did was act like a bitch then get himself killed.

Shigechi's death on the other hand was MUCH better and way more tense. Seeing how up till that point things were relatively easy but then fucking bam, Kira shows up and implodes Shigechi's face. It's one of the most sudden changes in tones and it was handled extremely well because you felt like the cast was actually going to be in danger from that point on. While I do think part 4 needed more deaths, Kira was EASILY much more intimidating than any other villain. DIO was nothing but memes and charisma and all he killed was Kakyoin whose death didn't really matter in the long run. For an 'ultimate being' Kars was even less threatening than Kira and all the pillar men aside from Wammu went down like jokes because of Joseph's ruses. There was no tension at all in part 2 because once again, Hamon ruined a lot because of how there were no rules to ground it and how it could change at any time to help Joseph in dumb ways.

Seriously, seeing Kira show up with Killer Queen looking like pic related at the start of the episode then seeing Shigechi get his face distorted, watching him slowly crawl down a hallway whilst dying, only to be blown up when he had a faint glimmer of hope was one of the most well-done ways of making a villain threatening.

That's not even taking BTD into account. Kars was a fucking joke and his "ultimate transformation" wasn't tense at all, but BTD however was executed so well. The pacing was on point, the tension made a human man like Kira seem more invincible than a God as well. Seeing Hayato go through so many hopeless scenarios was much well done than all of parts 1-3's finales.

Actually, I think Iggy and Avdol being killed by Vanilla Ice was a really great lead up to DIO's fight, it felt like there was an implication like "They haven't even gotten to Dio yet, this is his subordinate and he's already wiped out two of them" and it made it seem like the crusaders were already at a pretty big disadvantage before the battle even starts.

Kakyoin's and technically Josephs deaths were the icing on the cake, Kak dies before we even really know whats going on, and then just as we as an audience get what DIO did, the only person who could tell Jotaro is silenced and then killed too. Even though Joseph survives, we as an audience go through the fight thinking that Jotaro and Polnareff are the only ones who survive encountering DIO.

My problem is that Shigechi really was an irrelevant side character - and an annoying one at that. This is in my eyes the biggest departure in DiU from the previous seasons: no main characters died. Shigechi's scene was really well presented indeed but he wasn't important. Both dio and the pillar men wrecked parts of the main cast and this created a sense of urgency. Kars had real immortality and wasn't defeated by a magical power-up or because of justice. You must admit that his defeat was done quite creatively. Well, we could argue about taste I guess.

Honestly, I'd feel inclined to agree with you but after SDC it left more or less the opposite effect on me. I was amazed by how tense Vanilla Ice's fight was and how much the stakes were ramped when Avdol and Iggy died. But honestly, my biggest issue comes with the DIO's World fight itself. Kakyoin and Joseph's sacrifices didn't feel worth the battle because Jotaro solved it all with the "Same type of Stand" asspull and whilst it was cool, it greatly brought the fight down for me because it was such a dumb idea that made no sense. Bite the Dust and CDIU on the other hands were fucking godly for no spontaneous new abilities and both Kira and Josuke just fighting with the tactics they'd learnt and with throwdowns that didn't feel like the same ORAORA/MUDAMUDA cycles over and over again.

Still though, in general I prefered Vanilla Ice's fight. Helps as well that he felt more threatening than DIO in a lot of ways. While DIO spent more time monologuing and toying than actually making deadly moves, Vanilla Ice wasted no time fucking murdering the Crusaders.

Wish we got some kind of Vanilla Ice Feedback for him, really liked him.

I honestly don't agree, the red stone of Aja charging a convenient volcano and blasting Kars into orbit really was all an asspull. Though part 2 in general isn't really the best when it comes to cleverly done fights, but it was very entertaining.

Shigechi's death though really stood out. I wish Koichi died at least to Kira but overall Shigechi's death made Kira more terrifying than DIO and Kars because of how cold and merciless it was, it was genuinely distressing to see Shigechi, an actual child, die in such a way.

Sure, I'm not saying that wasn't dumb, but from the point where Joseph gets knifed in the throat I really did feel the threat, Dio had basically killed off everyone in his way except for Jotaro and Pol, and Pol surely only survived the fight at all because he wasn't there for 3/4 of it. At that point in the story, Dio felt and basically WAS unstoppable, honestly, he had the right at that point to be smug and chatty, he literally had no weakness.

Kak's death hit me pretty hard when it happened, even though it was pretty obviously going to happen, him using his last bit of strength to shoot the clock tower really captured the whole 'spirit of justice' thing Jojo has going for it, which only made it even more heartbreaking when Joseph is taken out just before he can tell Jotaro, basically rendering Kak's sacrifice worthless.

That was part 1 when he was on a bit of a power trip. In SC he's a lot more calm, what with him sparing hol horse since he wasn't a threat. DIO only really did evil shit if necessary, like running the car through civilians since it would catch up to kakyoin faster.
I think leaving the mothers wouldn't be too much of a risk since they'd most likely remain loyal to him. Plus when you rule the world it would be cool to have some kids about, can't just have your slaves to talk to.

That's what makes him so good of a character though. He's not a one-trait meme of a character but has many traits mixed into one to actually make him human. That's the biggest strength of all of part 8's characters, Araki's writing has gotten much better.

His power not being foreshadowed was fine. The way the anime handled his reveal with the additional teasing scenes was super well done though, really got me hyped when I saw Kira even though I already knew he was the part's main villain.

Johnny's more considered an asshole because of dark determination, but even then one of SBRs main themes is the need to do bad things in order to achieve a fundamental good. Valentine took it to the extreme, while Johnny kept it fairly moderate.

Not really, Jolyne and co still technically died, the other universe versions of them are basically like re-incarnations.

If it was just the events of part 6 not taking place, all the characters would still have their original names, but they don't.
