Nothing. Absolutely top-tier as far as character development goes. For its time, broke clichés by breathing visceral life into standard archetypes. The genki girl shows her ugly side and gets mad. The main character doesn't just have "main character sickness" around all the females, he approaches love like a real person (albeit high schooler). There's a lot that feels real about these characters, in a way that no standard high-school slice-of-life ever seems to replicate.

JC staff added some pointlessly long time skip at the end when she only left for like a month or two in the novel. They also kind fumbled Taiga's reasoning for leaving. It felt like they just had this massive emotional payoff only for her to be like "lol cya in a year" and it was stupid as fuck. Just stick to the original material if you can't land the ending on your own.

Everything else was pretty perfect though.

Yeah, Taiga leaving is the one thing the anime botched hard. I'm really not sure what their intention was, maybe just to give the series one last emotional hook done quick, but it totally falls flat. Manga handles it so much better without Taiga coming off like a bipolar bitch. Other than that it's one of my favourites in the genre.

overall decent series. The humor was kind of weak for me, and the student council dude's story was shit tier. Other than that I enjoyed it.
