I've only played the VN for chaos;head but I've heard all sorts of horror stories about how the anime was executed. Science adventure has a bad history of 30 or so hour long VNS needing to be chopped down into 13 episodes. Chaos;child seems like it's going to have the same freaking problem too.

Tsumugi only rapes you in Sora's non-canon arc. In Tsumugi arc, you make passionate, consensual love for the purposes of procreation.

So, I've read Never7 first. Loved Yuka and IzumiCure routes, BTW. Other routes were shit though.

Then I read Ever17. Boring (but still better than the majority of N7) until Coco route. Then the first 2/3 of Coco's Route were absolutely Godlike, and after the reveal it was just 'eh', but, whatever. I've got my time's worth in spades.

Then I've read Remember11. With all the bad ends, tips, Infinity timeline and plot breakdown. Which, barring some retarded shit (dancing embryos), was an awesome deconstruction of Ever17 (pretty much doing the same thing to it, as Spec Ops: The Line was doing to Gears of War and Modern Warfare). Also, amazing plane crash field scene, amazing "frozen eyes" scene, amazing Kokoro Route ending.

Then I've read I/O. Which was Nakazawa basically putting everything he ever fantasized about in one single VN. The Mutsuki Room scene in Route E and Route's resolution, for me, almost trump the aforementioned first 2/3s of E17's Coco Route. Well, there were prime routes afterwards, but, eh, not much interesting there. Anyway, loved it, loved the backgrounds, loved the Onoken's music, LOVED the entirety of Route E. Good fucking job.

THEN I turned my attention to ZE.

And was, like, WTF is this shit?

OK, 999's ending was kind of nifty both in the way it adapted E17's reveal to DS hardware, and because of the final All-Ice joke. Those 2% of the game were pretty cool. Compared to another 98% of the game, at least.

Then I've played VLR and was, like, "Really, WTF IS this shit?!". The whole thing was so uninspired and absurd, I was honestly thinking I was playing E17/999: MGS2 edition for quite some time. Then the reveals came. Where I was greeted with the Mirror Twist from E17 and bonus non-canon Blick Winkel reveal in the epilogue. Also, giant "To be continued". Well, at least, Dio's ending was somewhat artistic, and Luna reveal was OK, I guess. Still, WTF was that one big waste of time?

Then it was Root Double (actually, I still have to close Route D's bad endings, but I honestly don't know, when I'll bring myself to it). The A Route felt like R11-Kokoro-Route-On-Fire, only with more retarded death scenes. B Route felt like I/O's Route A (which was pretty cool) until the awesome reveal (not copied from anything which previously appeared in anything Infinity-related) and resolution, which are, barring final Xtend scene, my favorite things about this VN. Route C was a filler, Route D was confessional simulator, devolving into less inspired version of sense8 by the time Grand Ending ensued. Also, retarded shizophrenic girl (basically, this game's analogue of embryos and quantum computers) bossfights. Still, a pretty good VN with its own theme (basically, as the Xtend end scene says outright, the whole point of the VN is how people IMAGINE other people, based on their interactions with them, and how these IMAGES form, and change, and affect the behavior of the actual those imaginig them), although the amount of filler, counting duplicate Xtend-scenes is staggering.

Then PunchLine. Copypasted twists, but it was well directed, fast-paced and pretty enternaining until the reveal. Then it just went full Madoka - and bleh. Also, awful ending.

Then ZTD. Which, OH MY GOD, contained ONE AND A HALF twists of actually original, not seen by me in anything Infinity-related before, content. I was honestly surprised.

So, that's that, I guess.

About I/O. It's very different - and it's a tiny bit closer to R11 in tone and some of ideas. Anyway, it's very, VERY uneven and somewhat incoherent. However, the one thing it does right - is that in the aforementioned Route E, it really, REALLY comes together (in the way, that's definitely Infinity-esque, but absolutely unlike Coco's Route), and its ending draws a solid line under the entirety of the VN.
And then, as it turns after immediately after the end, there are ANOTHER 20 hours to read. Filled with filler and WTF AM I EVEN READING.

It's also pretty huge, like, 30 major characters and 50-80 hours of reading.

The game takes place in 2017 during Takeshi's routes and 2034 during Kid's routes. The Kid in Takeshi's route and the Takehshi in Kid's routes are the same person. Tsugumi is an immortal. You in 2017 is a clone/daughter of the You in 2034. This was all set up deliberately so the two incidents would look the same. The end result is tricking a 4th dimensional being into saving Coco and Takeshi who were trapped in an underwater facility after the 2017 incident, having also become immortal due to Tsugumi's blood.

The Coco route is the canon route.

Takeshi detouring to save Coco himself as well as do extra scenes with Coco changes the 2017 incident to be entirely different from either Tsugumi or Sora's route. This becomes obvious during the infirmary scene where Coco is with Takeshi this time and stops him and Tsugumi from fighting, which is the exact opposite of what happens in Tsugumi's route. We see that the Sora events still happen so Sora probably fell in love the same as in the Sora route, but without the whole jealousy nonsense since Takeshi never reciprocated.
