>"Stop! that attack will shorten your lifespan"
>as long as I can protect my nakama, I dont care what happens to me
>"being in this mode takes a massive toll on my body so I must therefore limit the amount of time I remain in this state"
>later episodes have him in that mode almost exclusively
>characters fight and nearly kill each other
>characters overlook their differences and become best friends
>"Quick! You have to run over there before the bad guy does that bad thing!"
>"I don't have enough time to run over there but I have enough time to yell about it!"
>"The bad guy is powering up!"
>"Oh no! What can we do?"
>"Holy fucking shit this woman beat the shit out of me because I made an honest mistake!"
How about anime where the consequences are actually there, though?
otherwise he would've never become the absolute madman
>guy looks at girl
>girl punches guy to ground
Kekek very funny mai waifu
>girl looks at guy
>guy punches girl to ground
This anime has been banned
Reason: promoting violence and rape against women
>"Don't! You might die if you keep going! Please!"
So the way I understand it, if Deku continued training his body for years and years, he'd be able to get to a point where he could use All for One continuously with little to no drawbacks, right?
So why the fuck doesn't he just do that instead of enrolling in that academy? Wouldn't be he better off biding his time and then joining the hero world when he's good and ready?
>character been training for 1000 episodes to perfect special move
>hardcore enemy no one can beat
>character comes out of training to use ultimate special move
>enemy dodges it or isn't effected
>character uses super special awesome move they trained for a whole arc to perfect
>it doesn't even work
>instead defeats the enemy using a variant of one of the first attacks they ever learned in the series
>has more effective and stronger attacks/technique in his arsenal
>spams that one move to oblivion
Bonus points if that move has alternate versions and modifications
I like it
>Side character uses some insane shit that pretty much kills some over powered filler enemies
>Literally never see that move again in main story and side characters remain useless
its common in animes
its about playing with your emotions, its imporant to viewer see himself in spot of MC or other charasters that act like the viewer or are the same sex charaster in anime as the viewer
and then make you feel like losing something important without actually losing it. possibly at the end you will be given actual results to give you last pit of emotion feelings so you get that "what to do next" in your life
way to fool you i tell you that. free will is illusion if you do not control your emotions and i can say with 100% chance that you do not control them, only that you believe you are in control of them
>>"Holy fucking shit this woman beat the shit out of me because I made an honest mistake!"
Is this the most tired shonen trope?
It really irritates me how female characters can punch the main character into orbit because of le wacky comedy but then become incapable of defending themselves whenever someone shows up.
Reminds me of how Goku learned the Kaioken and Spirit Bomb to beat the Saiyans only to not end up being able to beat the Saiyans with those.
Neither was very useful in the long run, now that I think about it. It wasn't until the Buu Arc that Spirit Bomb did anything.
Kaioken was regulated to being "always on" with no consequences other than when he tried to go to x20 by then though
If you think about it his base power level should've been leagues below even Piccolo and Gohan let alone Vegeta
in BHA's world, being a hero is an actual profession overseen by authorities
Use of quirks by civilians are heavily regulated
You need to undergo professional training and pass licensure exams if you want to work as a hero
To be a hero you need a license.
To have a license you need to complete a Hero course
The best hero course is at U.A.
All Might is the new teacher at U.A.
Deku has always dreamed of attending U.A.
He can still turn it around. The second semester is starting, which means we'll get a new sport festival soon.
Hopefully the villains seize that opportunity to wreck havoc in the city while all heroes are fondling their balls watching kids doing track and field.
Orphan MC is the messiah and/or descendant of some of the powerful people in existence.
>character uses forbidden technique
>doesn't get arrested by the police
Of all the shounenshit cliches this one pisses me off the most. I feel sorry for the MC busting his ass to take down a homicidal psycopath who killed his family and friends only to have some sanctimonious cunt shove their preachy bullshit onto you right before you exact your revenge. And it almost always happens right after the heroes carve their way through the big bad's hechmen, whose biggest sins were simply not finding a better employer, so them sparing the asshole responsible for it all in the first place because "muh morals" just shows what a bunch of hypocritical shitstains they are.
>girl blackmails guy with false rape accusations
Lol how cute so funny XD
Because suffering centuries' worth of oppression gives women the right to violently assault men whenever they feel like it and in general just be a cunt. Progression, the only way to move forward is by forever dwelling on the past.
>Character uses Forbidden technique.
>They die from it, thats the curse.
>Later in series.
>Different character uses the same technique as if its nothing.
>HA HA THAT FOOL DIDN'T UNDERSTAND HOW TO WIGGLY WOMPLY!
>character is dead
>literally the only difference is that they now have a halo
>character is actually more powerful when dead
>muh false equivalencies
>oh I thought I had no talents left but actually I friendly fired the monkey teehee
Too bad the series had entirely forgotten about the existence of talents for the last thirty or so episodes before that fight.
>Character is the first one to die, twice
>people don't die when they're killed
Villain actually gonna explaining his plan.
I'd watch it
>MC forms RPG party in prison
>Proceeds to break out
>Roam the lands in search of the woman
>Fights different levels of cops some with names and special moves
>Finally finds the woman
>She's dating the judge
>Homies sacrifice their self
>Get a confession
>Ends with a parade celebration in town in your honor
What is it with you /pol/tards, you can't shit all over the (((globalism))) bogeyman in order to shill your Nationalist fantasyland one moment, and then turn around and complain about nationalism in media the next.
I thought the sport festival was annual. I'm still a lil upset about the tournament though. Look at the matchups-vignette/page/chapter ratio and tell me he didn't fuck it up.
Sero/Todoroki 4p - Kaminari/Ibara 2v - Mei/Iida 5p (gag) - Mina/Aoyama 3v - Momo/Birb 1 vign - Tetsu/Kiri 6v - Bakugo/Ochacuck 1ch
TodoDeku 3 ch - Bakugo/Kirishima 3p - NO Ibara/Tenya - NO Mina/Birb
Iida/Todo 5p - Bakugo/Birb 5p
If a "hero" is willing to let a clearly obvious bad guy who destroyed homes and killed children for shits and giggles go then he's a fucking faggot and deserves death more than the villain.
Okay, but how does that explain how Deku stops hurting himself using OfA?
It the begin of the anime he says it's a story of how he became the greatest hero. So obviously whatever damage he did to his body wasn't that bad.
>you remind me of my mother
>"love and smiles always trump evil"
>except when the protagonist goes full edgelord
>Implying there are innocent people exist.
>Implying they are not deserve.
>ten year old boy
>stronger, deadlier and more capable than even the most revered and respected adults in the series
I guess it's not completely unrealistic though. There are legit child prodigies in real life, too.
>when the girl get bitchslapped for being a little bitch
>when people die, they win.
Canada is a crazy anime.
>Then halfway through the story it's revealed that they were the decedent of some sort of ultra badass and they are close to surpassing even them.
This happens so much I'm numb to it but Negima ran with it so hard I had to hate it.
>then halfway through the story it's revealed they were the decendent of some sort of ultra badass
Yep. Every fucking time. This killed the novelty of "loser kid works hard to be amazing" narrative in Naruto, really.
when did (you)'s get replaced with dotted underlines?
I gotta admit that I feel like Naruto never had that going for it, even before we knew his parents he had the fox from day one. Even at his worst he had unlimited energy to the point where he could always perform a high level jutsu.
Yeah indeed, I think one of the reasons I really rate Negima above the other shounen series is how Negi actually goes against the established notion of "proper hard work and honest training"and instead goes for "corrupted power".
I mean a lot of other shounen do still end up doing/using some corrupted/dark power, but that's usually like after they exhausted everything and things are desperate.
>Protag starts off as either a shy nobody or an idiot/pervert nobody
That's not too bad, where will the story go from here?
>Even after being surrounded by girls and new friends they remain the same fucking person from day 1
I dont want them to fuck every girl and take no shit but a little development would be something.
>The villain working hard, training everyday without rest, giving himself for a hard work for a chance in this life.
>Some genius hero is going wreck him without sweating
Nothing personal kid.
>builds an empire and hierarchal structure over his lifetime
>enjoying the fruits of his hard-earned labour
>some kid walks in and destroys his life's work
The sad life of a villain.
That's the problem with heroes, really. Their only purpose in life is to thwart others. They make no plans, develop no strategies. They react instead of act. Without villains, heroes would stagnate. Without heroes, villains would be running the world. Heroes have morals. Villains have work ethic.
You do make a pretty good point. There was a point in the beginning of part 2 though where Captain Yamato says Naruto should rely on his own strength and not the fox's, which led to the development of the rasenshuriken. It was inevitable for him to start using that fox power anyways.
>Using this skill will eventually cause for you to die
>Fuck that shit I won't live to reach eventually if I don't win right now
>Spams the skill repeatedly
Why was Pop so based?
Negima is just a legit genius though. He was never presented as some sort of underdog except in his age, pretty much the first thing we hear about him is "HELLO I'M 10 GRADUATED FROM OXFORD CAN SPEAK RANDOM LANGUAGES FROM EVERYWHERE AND A GENIUS MAGUS PLEASE TREAT ME WELL"
Demons being the 'good' guys probably comes from Paradise Lost. Also from the fact that God and His angels, while they don't deny free will, in the OT especially don't really have an open mind at any point in time. God is right and if you agree with him then you are too. There's no room for discussion. He doesn't take away free will since you CAN turn away from Him, but that makes you automatically evil and you can see how that would be a pretty poor theme for a shonen aimed at kids.
>Heart broken protagonist painfully abandons his life's goal and purpose in order to save the world so others can live in a utopia
>The idiots waste it
>mission is to destroy THE item and defeat the villain once and for all
>has aerial support
>choose to travel by foot instead because reasons
but a good protagonist has a personal goal they are actively working torwards. That's what makes Shinchika more interesting than, say, Ichigo from Bleach. Shichika has a personal stake in the battles, whereas Ichigo(or really most shonen MCs) just exist to fight whoever is attacking that week.
>MC and friends have to find x amount of items to advance
>literally the search for the 7 dragonballs
Why can't heroes have work ethic or plans?
>Have a secret identity, work a 9-5 job when not crimefighting
>Train body to stay in shape/get stronger
>Formulate new tactics, plans, strategies against enemies or future threats based on past encounters
>If you're smart enough, create gadgets or tech to help fight crime or increase security
>If a hero kill, then he isn't a hero anymore.
Bitchboy Hercules and Perseus are some of the original Heroes and make no fucking mistake, they killed people. Batman is an 'antihero' but because he fucking refuses to kill the Joker he's indirectly fucked up Arkham beyond measure
It's OBVIOUS the prison cannot fucking hold the Joker. Putting him in is equivalent to letting him go.
>MC uses his ultimate technique
>Villain just copies it and uses it to beat him
I honestly think we need more villains who are too powerful for the MC to ever fight squarely and more times when the MC just flat out never surpasses some of the characters in the story. It's both a good excuse to not want to fight and a good way to introduce more subtle ways of fighting, or even thinking whether or not he should be fighting at all.
>Side characters who were shown to be powerful earlier job to MC for no reason
>MC and his rival having their final battle
>They eventually run out of power and just start beating each other with their fists
>They end up betting all of their strength on one final punch
>The MC and Villain switch places in the middle of the story
>MC advances 100000 times faster than his contemporaries
>"hard work will overcome genius"...because the genius doesn't work hard at all
>MC solves all the problems of the world on his own but still talks about muh Nakama
>Small problem occurs
>MC immediately blamed and exiled for said problem
I'm remembering what I watched of Owari no Seraph.
>No, I must save my friends!
>But if you take more than two pills you'll die!
>Fuck you, I'm the anime protag. Your rules dont apply to me!
>Fucking almost dies and is useless for the final battle.
It was actually hilarious.
>"Stop, taking drugs will shorten your lifespan!"
>character actually dies
>character does something immoral
Seraph threads were comfy. Season 3 when?
>when you use an attack that shortens your lifespan so many times that you actually die
Yeah, but that was more about him becoming apart of something greater than himself. I'm talking about a straight upgrade with no drawbacks.
>Medieval fantasy world
>"Allow me to explain this using RPG terminology"
>Villain has been defeated
>All of his guards are defeated
>The item he needed to rule or destroy the world is now in the hands of the hero
>He has been betrayed by his most loyal partner
>"hehe...all according to plan"
>guy is actually accused of rape
>everyone in the kingdom hates him
>he gets a cute tanooki
It went better than expected
until the plot went to shit
>Edgy blood rage mc cut myself protag
>Get a loli
>Loli turns into some big breasted whore overnight so MC can fuq her without worry
>IT IS JUST HOW IT IS XDDD
Also that novel / manga was retarded from the start
>This guy is one of the few people who can help us preventing world's end
>Yeah might as well treat him like shit and bully him
>Somehow mostly everyone agreed on this
That's not too bad, the world was shit and that was the initial premise. I'm more concerned at the author randomly making the world not shit, the development felt too artificial. I only kept on reading because tanooki deserved a good end.
>"Stop! if you keep fighting you'll damage your body
>He does it anyway
>Becomes a vegetable
>"THIS WAS PART OF MY ESCAPE PLAN ALL ALONG"
>not knowing what this is already
>not using Google
I still dont understand how the fuck did he manage those ranged attack by holding out his hand at Gear 2
And why can he punch and explode the shit out of niggas now
>love interest is doomed to disappear forever
>everything starts to set up in the last three episodes
>she leaves in the middle of the last episode to return 10 minutes after
>lol I returned cuz I'm in love with u XD
Still waiting for UQH to redeem Negima.
>Heita is probably like 18 or something
>skill is called ten year knuckle
>after 7 times he dies
>realizing you are actively taking 10 years off what would've been a long and happy life with each use until you take so much his lifespan is below his age
you have to do it to clear him
>Character saves another character's life for the sole purpose of mindfucking them after

>Villain walks out of the dust cloud
>Completely unscratched save for clothing damage
>"Well, that's enough of a warm up."
>Character established as having a short lifespan and that they're going to die in set amount of time
>They live anyway thanks to Deus ex Machina that gives them a normal human lifespan/immortality
> Kaioken was regulated to being "always on" with no consequences other than when he tried to go to x20 by then though
If you think about it his base power level should've been leagues below even Piccolo and Gohan let alone Vegeta
What did he mean by this?
>Bring them back anyway because they're popular
>Also if they were a villain, a reason is contrived for them to suddenly be good
Fucking fan popularity polls the nips love so much are the worst. Just let creators tell their story.
>Mascot character blocks villain's attack to save MC and his friends
>Actually reduces his lifespan
DxD truly is the thinking mans punching anime
Bet everything mentioned in this thread has happened in that pure vomit called Fairy Tail
>Just let creators tell their story.
Most of the time they don't even have one to begin with. It can take many tries to get serialized, and at that point nips stop worrying about having a coherent story and just bet it all on an initial idea.
>Just a few weeks
You barely read it, haven't you?
It's traditional Japanese beauty together with painting your face white and your teeth black.
ain't nothing like aristocratic fashion
>MC uses final move that will kill him
>Battle is won, demon king is defeated but for no real reason MC and friends say goodbye with MC going his own path and ex companions going together on a different one.
>companions keep fighting in a every time grimer and grimer world because the war ain't over yert while achieving victories not as important as the one that made MC use his final move but still quite resounding ones
>MC finds new party young and inexperienced but with the same personality archetypes ns the previous one and also keeps fighting but the tone of his part of the series goes back to the somewhat lighthearted style previous to the final battle in which he used his forbidden move.
>all while never hearing ot his original group's accomplishments
>the same screentime dedicated for each group with everything always going like shit to old group and everything conveniently falling in place for new one
>eventually old group is being pushed back and retreat to the capital
>they enter a hospital close to the palace
>MC is laying there in a coma
>forcefully with tears on their eyes wake him up knowing he hasn't recovered and tell him they need him again

>the threat is defeated but MC falls dead on the spot
>final scene is the young second party of adventurers/soldiers/hunters/whatever that MC dreamt in his coma, getting ready to leave on their first adventure and when they go past the city's main door an statue of MC is there quietly overlooking all who enters and leaves the capital.
>tfw no heian period waifu
>mc does hear of old friend's achievements but doesn't seems to care, cares too little
>the only new party character that is not based on anyone from the old party finds it strange
>yada yada development it was MC subconscious and is the one who pushes MC to wake up at the end
> don't tell me what to do now die!!!!!!!
Nah. How about this animal-related webm instead?
>got away with everything
>got everything he wanted
>is now immortal
>can continue and is allowed to keep doing his evil deeds
>MC, you need to stay alive so you can fight the Big Bad
>but feel free to learn/use this technique that might kill you
He was able to beat Nappa without it, though. The only thing it did there was let him punch Nappa in the kidneys before he attacked Krillin and Gohan.
Vegeta tanked the Kaioken and Spirit Bomb. By the end, he only loses because Gohan sits on him as a giant ape.
>Bad Guy gives a long monologue about truth and justice acting like he's in the right
>It's a hobby
You can see the exact moment where his soul breaks
>"I love and want to bone MC because he was kind to me once"
>I won't lose to you!
>starts off with them trading a few blows
>Frieza traps Goku in his death bubble, goes nucular with it
>turns a whole hemisphere of namek into a barren, ashen waste
>Goku's fine, Frieza goes "Well, that was good for a warmup"
Blew eight year old me's mind with that. All that shit going down and they STILL had yet to bring out the big guns
>being lustful for fights makes you literally Jesus
>Make a new cast
>They act nothing like the old ones
>Keep a couple of the old cast in because it's the last installment
>Instead of killing the new guys off on Day 1 because their attitudes don't reflect the rest of the series, pick them off one by one until only two newbies remain
>New cast is useless in the long run
>The old cast carries the show anyway
> Resurrect another old cast to fill the void
From what I understand, it was supposed to be a Harem Comedy, but half way through it turned into a pretty good fighting shounen, with a large cast of characters and a way to keep them all (at least a little) interesting.
The funny part was that UQHolder came out as "finally he can write a fighting shounen from the beginning", and it was actually a decent action harem-style.
>Oh look this fancy action harem comedy isekai thing where the main character is destined to be the hero.
>Oh the villain is also looking for a "hero" to take over the fantasy world, he's probably going to be that too.
>Hero meets the fantasy pope with both villain and hero girl.
>The hero refuses to mindlessly genocide the villains, and gives the pope shit for actually abusing the hero girl
>Timeskip to literal modern day apocalypse with demons and shit.
>"Oh, after that happened the pope stole the heroic girl's body, stole the hero powers you were supposed to get, and beat literally everything so badly you got amnesia of everything that happened."
I was just looking for a mindless harem with a kind of interesting setting/gimmick.
I'm so fucking tired of fantasy christianity, man. They always get that shit wrong and either the whole church is evil or 90% of it is. Just fucking stop. Put in some polytheism or some shit, I don't even fucking care.
At first it's refreshing, because outside of anime people tend to look at the idea of "villainising" religion weirdly.
Eventually it does become one of those things where it's probably a safe bet to just assume that if the church is prominent, they have some kind of secret evil goal or something. It's an easy way to get some kind of "what now" response, because usually the church is supposed to be helpful, and then TWIST it has ulterior motives and they aren't all good.
You probably won't get polytheism unless it's based on already existing religions in history, most people aren't willing to go through the effort to create a whole knew pantheon, and having a shorthand "religious organization" is just too useful for writers so they don't have to explain tenants and stuff to their readers, and can just go "most people get a general gist and don't know ALL the details, that means I don't have to explain the basics and get some room to play around".
>because outside of anime people tend to look at the idea of "villainising" religion weirdly.
Nigga if I had to count the number of fantasy books and RPGs that villianise the church it'd overflow into the negatives.
>character introduced that looks/feels super edgy and/or will-probably-betray-the-party-to-nobodies-surprise
>is actually a bro to the MC and puts his life on the line for the sake of the party/world/maguffin
>that's no even my final form
>that's just x% of my power
For the record DBZ was pretty consistent with the risk and reward of transformations: Kaio-Ken wore Goku out like crazy and fucked him up so bad he got put in the hospital, Great Ape form really did nothing but make you a bigger target, and the Mafuba Fucking killed you.
Although I can't really remember betrayals in JoJo
>Guess I have to use 'THAT'
>not posting the sequels
Thanks for shilling for me, Anon-kun.
>character is told they are the reincarnation of someone
>they just blindly accept it and don't go through an identity crisis about it
I know there aren't too many narutards on /a/, but did anybody else get extremely triggered when
Might Guy used the Gate of Death and Naruto flew out of nowhere and magically saved him? The fight was really enjoyable and I thought it would be a fitting end for his character.
Yeah, although I would've preferred Neji surviving. Guy already gave the speech about protecting the future generation, and Lee already accepted that he was going to die.
Naruto has examples of almost everything in this thread.
>Using the Inner Gates will harm the body
>Only use it in emergencies
>Later seasons have Guy and Lee use it for literally whos, and to push a boat
I wonder how he first discovered it haha.
Talk about an awkward first date
But then again he probably just learned it later as an "appropriate" punishment for his victim or something. IDK, since magic can be learned. Maybe I'm thinking too much about this.
It slotted into Bleach's spot pretty well for people. The basic bitch Shonen anime people like that isn't Naruto style or One Piece style. Plus the world itself is kind of interesting, compared to others.
its so overdone and bland
>crazy priest with god complex hes so evil muhahahahaha xD
Probably getting rid of fusions, it didn't add anything to the story of worth and just made some interesting(?) character designs that all ended up being jobbers to Buu.
For the anime specifically, I've preferred it if we kept the DragonBall animation of actually seeing the combat, but the flashes and bangs style of fighting where they're just moving super fast works fine.
>MC spends entire anime plotting against antagonist
>Antagonist has long and tedious plot of evil and mayhem
>Antagonist has entire keikaku planned perfectly
>He actually pulls it off and wins
>Everybody is worse off for it and MC loses
How often does this happen?
>shouting the name of your attacks before using them
>naming your attacks at all
There is no higher level of autism
A lot of martial arts techniques in real life are named for identification purposes when communicating and teaching and in (systemic) magic systems you pretty much get led to a name organically. "Small fireball" vs. "Giant Fireball" for example. In divine magic systems there's usually no naming, the caster just kind of waves her hand and shit explodes
The moves themselves are fine, but giving them a name, then shouting that name mid combat for all the world to hear is just cringy. It's basically telling everyone within ear / eyeshot of you "Hey, when I say this, I'm going to do this, so learn how to counter it next time". And honestly, it just looks and feels wrong. No one would do that in an actual fight.
OfA fucks up Deku's body because of a psychological stopgate his mind puts on his use of the power.
Basically he should have been using a little bit of the power at all times rather than a lot of the power for very short bursts like he did.
He overcomes this by using very small amounts of the power in unique, clever ways.
>if you regain your memories you won't be the same person anymore...
You mean those dual swords? I'm pretty sure that was only for when they were opposing Yamamoto, who also used the full activation incantation. Probably just trying to show off to each other since they weren't really enemies.
Disappointed that this has not been posted already.
Actually, it has been established that once you unlock Bankai, incantations aren't required anymore.
Also, see Kyouraku's fight with Starrk where he released his Shikai instantly without the incantation, same with Ukitake to intercept the lasers.
>they regain it anyway
>turns out they have at least four distinct personalities
>starts stalking and decapitating all the main characters
Fuck why did I laugh to that.
Ahhh yes, quite. I believe you are quoting sub-clause 6, of section 30 within volume 12 of shonen battles weekly, special edition on power levels, swordsmenship, and techniques that invalidate the previous topics. How could I forget.
Literally what the fuck is this post? Are you attempting to to that normalfag thing where when someone actually knows their shit you just scoff and pretend that being an effortless, uneducated piece of shit makes you better than someone who devoted time, love and effort into their hobby because you "have a life"?
No, I mean I'm very obviously ranting and slightly projecting here but what the fuck was the point of this fucking post?
>someone says "those eyes" or "look at his eyes" from at least 100 feet away
this shit really annoys me
> protag and enemy dueling in a wide open space
> they break apart for some dialogue
> literally talking to each other in normal voices despite being over a hundred metres apart
