She basically triggered Asuka as she reminded her of her mother. Asuka's whole thing is hiding who she is and internalizing her anger, so only the viewer and Kumiko (who sees through people) got to see how livid she actually was.

It was one of the hints that Asuka has deep seated issues, that she's more than just a bitch on the inside.

I caught up with the last episodes today. I didn't read the threads but I imagine /a/ was butt mad because they omitted the performance (which they kinda had to) but I thought the ending was really great.

I loved how Kumiko looked up to Asuka and at least in the end Asuka looked like she really grew up and became a more open and loving person.

I can imagine an arc where Reina('s family becomes poor and Taki helps them. Reina will begin her solo career. A schism will happen in the band again bit it will be about differing opinions on how the piece should be played to to get gold. Maybe the new talented students want to completely take over the band since they are more experienced in competition.

I think it's funny that it's still going on even after all their ships came to nothing. It's almost like watching people taking sides on politics or sports or something. The characters and even the show became secondary to the other side losing.

I've been in harem threads where people argued about best girls and worst girls, but that was at least relevant. Since the series was all about the girls. Looking at Hibike threads, you'd never guess how little romance there was. So little, in fact, that no one in S2 hooked up or got shot down.
