Again, you're reading the wrong magazines. There's a number of good dedicated josei/shoujo horrormagazines like Nemuki, Horror M, Gekkan Halloween and that one that replaced it, etc. Hell, around half of Itou's works are shoujo/josei, if not more, but you'll never see /a/ mention them in these threads, because anons are hooked on the same dumb misconceptions you've fallen for and believe that anything that isn't romance must not be shoujo/josei.

Because it's just a bunch of drama that you most of the time don't care about

Sometimes they end up at BL magazines too, both of the bait-only and hardcore porn variety, but that's less of a leap than going shonen/seinen. BL was originally a sub-genre of shoujo, after all. I guess it's partially those series' fault that shoujo manga editors concluded that all profitable manga sold to girls will only ever be school melodramas, and drove everyone who didn't agree out.
