First /a/ said that Shigatsu is better, then /a/ said that Honey & Clover is better, than /a/ said that Midori no Hibi is better, then /a/ said that Sakurasou and White Album 2 are better.

I haven't seen Sakurasou yet but I have finished all those other anime I listed and none of them come close to Toradora. Currently several episodes in to White Album 2 and so far it's not better than Toradora. I suppose my next stops after this are Sakurasou, Kare Kano and Koi Kaze.

This is my biggest problem with romance in any medium. And why I love shows that have romance develop early on with more mature characters e.g beserk. There is far to many stories that spend the whole story figuring out issues and eventually getting the one he/she loves.

Also there isn't enough fun segments of couples just having fun together. There needs to be longer periods of time before some drama happens that they have to overcome.

Movies are shit for romance since they are so short, there just isn't enough screen time for good character development.

Eureka 7 is overrated as shit. I went in expecting a nice adventure with some sweet romance instead ended up hating EVERY character.

The only upside to that anime was the rival couple. Yeah the girl was a fucking monster to the guy but at least she had a reason. Meanwhile everyone else on the protagonist side were fucking hippie monsters which had no empathy for anything or anyone.

it's got the PURE and it's got the TRUE LOVE and it's got the FAHSTO KISSU

pretty much all of the needed ingredients, packed into a story about opposites attracting. The story doesn't do the typical shoujo thing of misunderstandings fueling entire arcs. There's a constant advancement in the relationship. That's how love stories work, as opposed to something like Toradora, where it takes an entire 26 eps to get to a kissu, and everyone is too dramatic about relationships that don't even have a form.
