What anime did you used to love then realized it's awful when you grew up?

It seems OP got caught in the Endless Eight casual filter.

Haruhi

Suzumiya was shit, even to my younger self. How old are you OP, 17?
growing up made me realize I actually feel bad for Koizumi
>watch mostly anime with plots
>grow up
>realize how absolutely predictable and shit most of it was
>watch mostly SOL moe shows now
Law of Ueki and Death Note. Code Geass on the other hand became even more awesome

Haruhi is an anime only genuinely mature individuals such as myself can fully appreciate. Pretentious teenagers get caught up in taking the philosophical annotations only at face value instead of taking them for what they're mostly supposed to accomplish - being a comment on both the medium and the characters. Likewise manchildren get caught by the cute girls and feelings of moe, which cloud their vision for the underlying depth in the reflection this aspects cast on the characters. The beauty of this anime as a form of entertainment is that all of these people are still able to enjoy it as such. However it's beauty as a piece of art is achieving this while simultaneously seperating those that can appreciate it on a deeper level from those who can't.

I started watching anime when I was 18. Before that I only saw a handful shows my brother showed me like naruto, one piece and ghibli movies.

Rezero
I thought Jojo is the most badass thing ever when I was 13, now at age 26 I realize that it's just juvenile shit, like all shounens.
