BLESS BEST BIRTHDAY BOY GEORGI.
My sides. I wish I had a twitter account now. Too bad I'm not going to make an account just for that.
Happy birthday, Georgi!
I hope we get an ova about him.
Quick question about the Blu Ray
Can anyone explain why exactly there are 6 "volumes" of it? Is each disc only 2 episodes? Do they expect us to pay $60+ for 2 episodes of this anime, and then repeat 6 times?
I've never ordered a physical copy like this before, so I'm not really understanding.
Ehh I usually don't get into new / actively airing shows. I also usually only buy figures and merch like that.
Good to know for future reference.
I had no idea the nips loved him that much
Anime studios don't compress video quality for physical releases, so each disc only contains about two episodes. The blu-ray usually also contains some sort of special extras (a booklet, bonus shorts, etc) and quite often, sloppy animation that was rushed out for the broadcast release will be cleaned up and re-drawn.
Is it dumb? Yes. But it's just become an accepted practice in Japan. Anime is a stupidly expensive hobby over there.
I have a pretty strong suspicion Georgi will not be back for S2, and if he will be most likely it'll be a gag cameo.
On a more positive note, what new characters would you like to see introduced S2?
Personally I'd love a 2D of this qt:
>unless you speak moon
Implying one would not have watched the subs enough times to have memorized the meaning of all the moon.
If I could afford it, I would
I probably could afford it
But I just can't justify $600 in one series, plus the figures I'll inevitably buy
I mean, I like it a lot, but not an entire paycheck a lot.
These ones make me laugh so much. These hitlers were truly made for each other.
thanks for saving my shitty edit tomodachi
Chris and Piggy is my guilty pleasure. I need that eros on eros. Plus, I feel like Chris could deal with his autism better.
Fatfairy. Fuck the haters, I may be a huge Baldfatfag but sometimes I want a ship which isn't so romanticized and domestic
Bikefairy is the only one I actually care about, but Phichit/Ciao Ciao is my favorite crackship.
and that's all I've got
It's been a hell of a ride faggots. Can't wait for S2
I have to admit it's BikeFairy. The aesthetics alone are top tier.
Same anon. It's all these threads fault.
hard line virgin and czech extreme sports
I also like otafairy and sarakorea
Excelent taste, have some more of the purest boys.
his scruffy look reminds me of will from hannibal
and yeah basically emil is only 18 and without the beard he totally looks it. he has a baby face and really big expressive eyes and without the beard looks like a run of the mill pretty boring anime guy
I forgot to add I love milageorgi too and chris finding love with any guy or girl
>You will never have a stern but kind and fashionable boyfriend with a motorcycle
Why even live
The more I rewatch the more I'm convinced Viktor doesn't actually want to return to competitive skating. He may have started to consider it after how Yuuri made him feel in EP11. But his faces talking of his return in EP12 look all sad and empty, the smiles are very fake. It was clearly his first step into convincing Yuuri to not retire.
I think Kubo is gonna punish the fandom.
Was there ever an explanation as to why Mickey and Sara never went into pair skating? I know that they've gone through their "we need to be independent and live our own lives to be fulfilled" development now, but when they were full on clingy shits why no pair skating?
That pretty much means he has zero will to return on his own and it's only doing it to please Yuuri because he thinks (and has chosen that) returning to the ice the best for Viktor
Holy shit Viktor why you don't speak your mind
I agree. I don't think he's actively miserable about it and he has some unresolved feelings about skating, but his prime motivation was obviously doing it for Yuuri. He wouldn't have come back if not for Yuuri pushing.
After so long finally a true prince has come for his heart.
So how high are the chances of S2 opening on the beginning of a brand new season, with Victor having reestablished his world records and Baldfat not having evaluated their relationship at all because they're autists?
It think it'll open with Worlds and then jump to a time skip since Victor wants Yuuri to be a world champ. They did it in episode one with the GPF and then time skipped 3 months.
I actually initially read the silver medal scene as "jk returning is so much work it's not like I can do both. I'm still staying with you, just make it up to me ten fold." But then the announcer at the exhibition said he's returning. I dunno, my dumbass confused itself.
It's starting to remind me of the Seo/Wakamatsu jokes in Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun. They'll be on their deathbed surrounded by a hundred poodles and adopted grandkids and they still won't realize they were in a relationship.
daily reminder Dedushka is cute
What a douchebag and shallow thing to say. It’s not being into some yaoi. Into some piggy ass. It’s about BALDFAT. YURI!!! ON ICE is BALDFAT. THE STORYLINE THAT WE DEEPLY CARE ABOUT IS BALDFAT. THIS WHOLE PHENOMNON IS BALDFAT. Baldfat is not just some enterteining ship created by fandom on a whim to satisfy some primal fangirl needs or whatever the hell is implied in that shitty confession. Baldfat is an epic, unique, unclassified relation of two separately fascinating autismos who function as individuals but who after meeting each other were bonded for life and each influenced the other so powerfully that they both started to transform not only growing as Hitlers but THAT EROS started to evolve forming them into this one itentity. In the opening there are so many symbols about that: Victor's nipples, drunken pole dancing reshaping them into new, changed people is that bond exaclty. They are not just some ship dammit. They are BALDFAT, the basis for the whole story, the essence of the whole story and clearly someone behind this confession doesn’t get THE PHENOMENON or else he/she wouldn’t be making such statements.
Victor needs to tell Yuuri that he wants to be with him even if they both retire from skating. They need to talk about plans after retirement, Yuuri can stay at it for a while longer but Victor really will have to retire in a year or two.
Liftime of avoiding relationships, YOU DON'T HAVE TO SAY ANYTHING JUST STAY BY MY SIDE, he thinks his actions express his love clearly, Piggy is shy and speaks in metaphors so Victor learned to adapt or get faced with NONONONO, Victor's own natural autism. Take your pick, there are a lot of reasons.
Insecure? He's probably tied things to skating too much and is afraid of what their relationship would be like without it? Granted when they're both retired there will be an adjustment period.
Because, under his charming celebrity persona, he's just as shit as dealing with people on a personal level as Yuuri is. This is the autist who made his whole life about much skating. He still tried to make it work anyway after falling for Yuuri only for Yuuri to reject him in a rather bluntly, screaming NOOOO when he tried to have a sleepover with him despite being all over him during that banquet. Then Yuuri kept sending him mixed signals and Viktor was probably too scared to get rejected outright again - remember that he threw away his entire life for this guy - so he acted as flirty as possible and waited for Yuuri to make his move. A big mistake.
Now that Yamamoto knows people love episode 10 and there is no longer any reason to hide Piggy's semen demon side, I hope she raises the eroticism in the next season.
I hope she also raises the Baldfat level. Wasn't the banquet ED her idea?
I want a lot of Pichit in S2.
Phichit is olev.
Maybe I'm paranoid but I worry she'll be okay with plateauing the BaldFat to ep 12 levels since the most vocal parts of the fandom were practically throwing themselves off cliffs praising the finale
Do you think she looks at criticism too or only positive tweets? I remember seeing something about her deleting old homophobic tweets after someone dug them up instead of addressing them. She comes across as the type to avoid negative things.
What if you stop making suggestions that are dumb and bad?
Mila and Otabek will have a lift-off to decide who gets the fairy.
I don't believe this. So far every episode has either developed the relationship or shown it from a different angle (even if sometimes, the new angle meant depicting either Viktor or Yuuri as Hitler). They seem to be adamant on giving us new, fresh things, so logically the relationship can only grow even if there will be setbacks.
Rewatching episode 12 I'm surprised /yoi/ hasn't jumped on the fact there is an extended cut to Mila going 'aw' and blushing towards the end of Otabek's routine.
Fairy NTR confirmed
Argh, I can already feel my second hand embarrassment building up at the thought of all those fat-fuju-burgers asking cringy questions and 'MUH LGBT REPRESENTATION'.
Also the terrible cosplays.
I want Fairy to be happy
with a boyfriend
why couldn't you protect his smile?
It doesn't have to mean anything, people are shown to have similar reactions to skating related stuff without it being significant. Remember Baldfat blushing at Fairy's Agape? That being said, I wouldn't mind even if she did like him. Mila is best girl.
I really want to put on a big show for them, like a 30 minute creative arts program with song and dance as a sign of gratitude for making Yuri!!! on Ice happen (think Best Korea).
It'll have to go through an audition process to weed out unworthy performances.
Nothing unusual about that. That's how everyone ought to react to Otabek.
Season 2: Otabek comes to Russia to hang out with Yurio only to get hit on constantly by Mila. Yurio starts getting super jealous and doesn't understand why though Georgi and Victor totally get it and just laugh about it.
No, I don't want Mila to be a third wheel to Otafairy. It would be okay if the plot twist was that she has been in a long distance relationship with Sara all the time and was only trying to be friendly with Otabek and Fairy misinterpreted her actions.
I'm excited for Russian SOL antics with Victor, Yuri, Yurio, Georgi, Mila, and Otabek. The potential.
I hope Otabek tries to get Yurio to go on more bikerides with him but the rest of them also want in. I think Georgi would have the best reaction to riding on a motorcycle.
I really wanna know more about whether or not Otabek's a real gearhead like we tend to assume. Is that his only bike? Does he have multiple bikes? Is he a car guy too? I want to know, dammit.
This is why we need an infobook.
I wouldn't even mind if season 2 for Fairy is him ice skating, being embarrassed by his gay dads, and developing a huge crush on Bike but thinking it's normal feelings people have for their friends while it's painfully obvious to everyone else (aside from Bike who thinks Fairy is like Victor and a flirty person by nature)
Me too, Russia is the ideal setting just as Hasetsu was the ideal setting for the first season. It was good that they only had each other to focus on in Japan, but now that their relationship has grown, it can only benefit from presence of other people. Plus the Russians are all awesome.
I for one am curious how Fairy and Piggy's relationship will develop. I don't have any delusions about Fatfairy (nor do I want it), but now that it's confirmed that Fairy admires Piggy, I wonder how will things go with the two of them on the same rink. Maybe they can even team up occasionally to tease Viktor now that he's a competitor too and some friendly rivalry can be expected?
Gook is pretty much guaranteed S2 given his screen time in the final episode (and copious
undeservedmerch), honestly I think he'll probably grow into a more likeable character.
His main problem was his autism received 0 development and he was essentially just there for a throw-away plot device.
Yeah, I also dislike Gook, but I agree that he could turn into a good character if given some actual attention. I'm not sure how they do this, however, if he only appears at competitions. He needs more time for his autism to be cured.
Yeah, I always enjoyed their interactions when Victor wasn't around, just because it was cute seeing Fairy actually being nice.
I like the thought of Piggy and Fairy being friends.
Yurio is for ____
We need a QT female (or twink-ish male but not quite as severe as Yurio) skater from Suomi.
I agree with a lot of anon's feeling empty after the finale, but do some of you also feel way more motivated? For months every week have consisted of waiting for wednesday, now that that is gone I feel like I finally can start getting my life together. I hope all of you anons are in a better place when season 2 rolls around and blesses us again. Sorry for blog, have a cut3 domestic.
>but do some of you also feel way more motivated?
YoI inspired me to visit the gym again.
But it also made me a little bit sad because as a child I used to be so good at ice-skating, coming from a dutchie, but I choosed football even though I didn't really enjoyed it.
Peer pressure I guess but it's such a shame.
I'm a bit more motivated in a weird way. I'm telling myself that if season 2 airs in some years, like for example in 2018 or more, I should study and work hard to earn a lot of money to be able to buy the BD of the first season before so I can rewatch it and some official merchandises like that Victor figurine I'm really looking forward to. I want to be able to watch season in a comfy way, I want to watch it on a big screen and not on my shitty laptop with a shitty internet connection. Seeing the terrible western fandom that complains about queerbaiting all the time, thinks people who ship Otabek/Yurio are automatically pedophiles and their shitty tumblr fanarts make me want to study Japanese harder so I can stick to the Japanese fanbase instead, too. I already do but I can't read well enough yet. And I had a really shitty semester, and watching yoi every Wednesday made me less depressed.
Don't know if that counts as blogging, sorry of it does.
In a way I would say so. I used to figure skate and play hockey, but it was bittersweet as I wasn't endowed with the skills as other kids my age, since I was clumsy and overweight, so I got hurt a lot.
But, seeing Yuuri and his childhood with skating is encouraging. Since I finished university, so I may take up skating again as a hobby.
Have some fluff in return, anon.
Yeah, in certain ways. YoI motivated me to get better at Japanese, something which I've always loved but never found time for until now. My new goal is to get to the level I need to watch YoI without subtitles so I can shitpost about it with you during live streams.
This. I've really sharpened up on my moon since the season began.
Never have I been so motivated to BTFO the English-speaking fan base. Whilst the 'Western mainstream' popularity is great in terms of exposure = money = more content, I shudder to think of the Western fanbase in any way being recognized by the creators.
Dallas is going to be a shit show, and I'm not even a burger.
Thank god 90+% of the money still comes from the Nips or I'd really start to despair on humanity.
This screenshot made me want to throw up. I love how the relationship between Yuuri and Victor is depicted and all that stuff but everytime someone agrees with me and say it's only because of positive representation or because they relate because they're queer I cringe so hard
and I'm not even straight. Also some of them are so offended by fujoshi, the main target audience, it's hilarious, pic related.
I know what you mean, I'm so glad that I'm not a Westerner because the second-hand embarrassment I feel is way too strong even if I'm not associated with them in any way. What the fuck is wrong with these people?
I probably also only relate because I'm a fag.
Straight relationships do nothing for me.
Maybe it's because
I'm oldbut why the fuck do people have to read into it so hard? What enjoyment can anyone get out of sociopolitically analysing something to this degree, especially anime, for christ's sake.
I can only assume that most of the people making this kind of commentary are for the majority clueless to (sic)'otaku culture' and/or mainstream anime in general if they are trying to rationalize a social message out of a seasonal anime.
I'm not /pol/, but it hasn't been until now that SJWs have actually managed to trigger me.
tl;dr BTFO your social messages and let me enjoy my chinese cartoons in peace
Straight relationships are boring at this point cause there's already so many stories and everyone keeps using the same tropes. Even when they try to do something a little different at first, everything falls into the roles and rules that has been used since the beginnning of story telling. I rarely see good romance, gay or not.
When it's gay though, yuri or yaoi doesn't matter, you can actually put your charas in unconventional roles and give them distinct personalities.
They're not just the guy or the girl, guy having his manly roles and duties, girl having hers. Same old, boring things over and over again.
Oh god, it was so cringeworthy... Why people praised Korra and SU for all homo stuff, despite the same lack of kisses and on-screen declaration of love, yet so picky about Yuri on Ice? Seems like double standarts to me.
They're pretty self-centered, they tend to complain about cultural appropriation a lot but don't give a fuck if they interpret an anime wrong because they see everything through their American point of view.
They don't do things just for fun, they also want to look good and intelligent while while watching anime of all things.
>straight relationships are boring
No. Tropes are boring. There are tropes in all romance genres, BL included.
YOI worked so well because it was fresh from all angles, it wasn't trying to replicate any particular type of romance, and integrated it with a novel sport in a way that felt genuine.
I think it's because ep 7 happened so early. If they'd finished on that kiss, I think people would have been way happier.
As it was, it made us think, "hey, if we're getting this now, maybe we'll get a visible kiss at the end!" and then we didn't. It just seemed kinda weird having that one kiss and then never again.
But whatever, they were obviously super gay.
>long haired yuuri
blau doing god's work as always
Am I wrong to assume, with the length his hair grew, that the end of EP12 was a time skip to the next year?
which would fit the time frame if S2 will indeed be Fall 2017?
I'd love confirmation that Yuuri lives in Victor's home in StPetersburg. And then show he only has one big bed there (I remember he also has a sofa, but it always occupied by Maccachin)
I think the ending where Yuuri and Victor are pair skating on that love song between two dudes is supposed to have the same effect as having a final kiss in the last episode. A second kiss could have been a bit redundant, too.
But some people legit think it's not gay if we don't see them french kissing with a close up on their mouths or even more. Not just hetfags, even people who want yoi to be the best LGBT representation in anime. It's crazy.
Yeah, while I wouldn't have minded another kiss, I actually like that Kubo and Sayo have shown us something new almost every episode. The pair skate was so touching and intimate, too.
>I think the ending where Yuuri and Victor are pair skating on that love song between two dudes is supposed to have the same effect as having a final kiss in the last episode
>But some people legit think it's not gay if we don't see them french kissing with a close up on their mouths or even more
This is what triggered me so badly about /a/'s reaction to the final episode. It was beautiful.
Sure rushed and came a left-field from the ending most were expected, but in terms of baldfat's relationship I couldn't think how it could have been expressed better. For whatever reason the Nips understood this but the tumblrtards/delusional fujos here didn't.
People expecting a Doukyuusei kiss need to BTFO, because it will NEVER happen in YOI. I'll be honestly surprised if we get an onscreen kiss at all, and honestly I'm okay with that given how well they've handled expressing BaldFat's relationship and intimacy without face mashing.
Some scenes made me believe they were about to kiss at some point but honestly, the pair skating made up for it. I lost my shit when Victor appeared, I had to pause the video to calm down.
I wouldn't be surprised of ep7 is slightly changed so we see Yuuri's and Victor's mouths touching in the BD but I'm not expecting it. I think western fans are too used to either actual BL were the main characters french kiss and have sex all the time or to western shows where couples kiss all the time too.
Read the rest of what I said. Obviously I'm talking about stories telling straight relationships and the reason they're boring is the same old tropes they use.
I'm just saying you have more room to move in in works which tells a love story between two men or two women.
I wonder if it's even possible to create programs more meaningful than Eros and Yuri on Ice for Yuuri in the next season. I mean, Eros was his unexpected transformation into a semen demon and Yuri on Ice his love for Viktor. How could they top this?
>but in terms of baldfat's relationship I couldn't think how it could have been expressed better
Maybe by not having them avoid their communications problems by simply kicking the ball down further?
From what I saw here people weren't nearly as mad about a lack of kiss as they were abour the hotel conversation, the writing of Victor's decision, and just the writing overall. I liked the pair skate but I see where the others complaining that the episode left them unable to feel it were coming from.
I have big concern about S2 direction in general. Sayo and Kubo had 4 years for planning YoI as it was. It included a lot of researches of skating world, finding talented yet unknown musicians and designers. They also had no any pressure from fanbase.
Now they have how much time? A year?
Besides it was a same sex pair skate with lifts and intimate caresses, that doesn't happy in reality. It's quite bold actually and it's amazing people don't realize it. That Christmas on Ice performance with Lambiel and Takahashi is as close as it gets and they barely touched.
Well, Kubo did mention at the beginning that she would love, love to do more of this, so perhaps she already had some idea on how to continue at that point. Who knows, maybe the same amount of time won't be needed.
No I agree with anon. The usual man/woman roles are boring but that's entirely the writer's fault for buying into tired cliches because none of those have to be used if they don't want to. There's nothing preventing straight shit from using unconventional roles or distinct personalities if writers wanted, there's room to move just as much as any other kind of romance.
Nice, 2018 confirmed. Hopefully OVA in 2017.
Crazy SJW requirements aside, much as the pair skate was beautiful it's not actually the same as a concrete, serious confirmation from either the creators or the characters. Until that happens deniers are not entirely wrong, Mappa has purposely left them a handhold.
I don't see the problem with wanting confirmation anyway, it won't take away from the pair skate.
I can't blame anybody who wanted confirmation, I personally feel like it was already confirmed somehow though. We have to wait for season 2 for a confirmation, I have a feeling we'll get something.
Yeah, confirmation would be nice, but deniers are delusional at this point. The backbone of the whole story is Yuuri and Viktor's love, even the skating is medium to express that. You have to be willfully blind and do some serious mental gymnastics to reject that.
Are they just putting everyone's Birthday from Christmas to New years?
Personally I do too, but that's just it, a personal judgement. The reality is actually purposely ambiguous, even if the implications are very strong.
More than confirmation or kissy, what I want is exploration of their faults in dealing with each other so as to build their relationship stronger, and for them to affirm their feelings for each other outside of skating metaphors. I don't know how much I can hope for this.
I don't get why deniers are even watching. Whether Bladfat is confirmed or not is irrelevant- they are never going to deny it. This is a fujo show for fujo that actively encourages speculations and for the audience to make leaps and guesses about their relationship. Its like the deniers who use the "that doesn't count because its fujobait" line have missed the point. Yuri on Ice isn't a show thats seeking to boost his fanbase by throwing scraps at fujos- its a show literally made for fujos where the deniers get their "good luck charm" scraps sometimes.
Could be that s1 was just more revolved around them developing their coach/skater relationship while becoming closer and more intimate and falling into deeper feelings/realizing love for the first time, then given the progression of things, it'd make sense for s2 to further that relationship.
Plus, it'd be a good way to keep surprising us and you know how KuboSayo like to do that.
Anyone else hope that next season Baldfat will have to deal with some fans, maybe a small scandal? There must be lots of fans that want to know what the deal is between them. Fairy's fans followed him around and him leaving with Otabek went viral. Victor was said to have over a million fans but we only saw a bit of them. I don't want drama but seeing them try to avoid a crazy fan or the press and having Yuuri deal with dating Russia's most eligible bachelor might be fun.
I can see it now that they're in Russia. There will be other skaters and coaches at the rink they use as well so they might get questions, they're not going to be isolated like they were in Japan anymore.
>its a show literally made for fujos where the deniers get their "good luck charm" scraps sometimes.
Not to mention how they reverse baited in the very first episode, kek.
People just aren't used to this kind of anime. Baldfat and their scenes are clearly past the line of simply "fujobait" considering the way it is literally ingrained into the story and how their relationship slowly deepens, but it's not quite over the solid finish line so to speak, at least not yet.
People are only used to either one or other, but mostly the former.
So people, especially westerners, have a very hard time trying to put things into perspective.
Somebody needs to ask them what they're going to do after retirement. Victor can choreograph and coach since he's building some experience now but Yuuri is the question mark, will he run the hot spring or do something else since he has a degree? Will he stay in the skating world?
This season was Stammi Vicino, lonely hearts finding someone to hold onto. I wonder if the next season's anthem is more along the lines of connecting more deeply/getting to know you/partnership/making a relationship work. If it will even have an anthem.
I hope it does, the music narratives were neat and funny.
Since we're getting a sequel I'm surprised that people are mad there was no concrete confirmation. The story is only half finished.
>they're not going to be isolated like they were in Japan anymore.
I think this is what gives me the most hope for the second season. And Yuuri will have to open up more considering he's also going to be surrounded by people like Mila, Georgi, and Yurio.
I want Yuuri to "accidentally" release their sex tape so everyone can get that they have no chance against him when it comes to banging Victor and piggy would get another chance to show his love for Victor. All of Victor's fans would lose their shit.
>living in St. Petersburg
>Victor is fan favorite
He's already the deuteragonist, and he just bit off a lot in in this episode, possibly more than he can chew.
Is it too much for me to hope that season 2 will be his side of the story, so to speak? There's no longer any need to keep his motivations secret, KuboSayo can finally think deeply about him and develop him fully.
You can't blame them. For all the bullshit "Yuri on Ice is something entirely new" claims, it really is the first anime I can think of (that isnt straight up BL) that is purposfully laser focused on the fujo audience and treats others as less important. Espeically in the sports genre which notoriously throws minimal scraps at the audience that funds it.
Nah there's been fujobait made just for fujos before, a lot of them. Who do you think was the main audience for shows like Yami no Matsuei or even Kyou Kara Maou?
Even so, Yuri on Ice is another level.
>I'm okay with that given how well they've handled expressing BaldFat's relationship and intimacy without face mashing.
What relationship? Ep 12 proved they don't have an established one yet. The ice dancing was pretty and cute and all but it left me feeling nothing after what happened between them prior in the episode. Like Yuuri'a last line, the ice dance shows they still have nothing as a couple outside the ice because autism.
Whereas a casual small kiss would've made me believe they did have an established relationship that didn't rely on being coach and skater and only that.
I think that why I love baldfat so much and satisfied with their pair . Beside them reminded me to other two my fav couple jacob/fox from cornelia funke's mirrorworld and therese/carol
Frist couple they never told their love each other or kiss or do anything but they know their love each other from their heart , later couple have kiss and sex but it never come as "look at us we are lesbian , we are in love " and in the end their relationship just start like baldfat
Exactly. Sports anime usually revolves around the "power of friendship" only with maybe a few shippy scenes but it's mostly just fujos putting them into more romantic scenarios because cute boys.
But in this anime, it's /literally/ the "power of LOVE" and putting Yuuri and Victor into as many obvious romantic scenarios as possible, fujos don't have to do most of the work this time.
Hell, when most of the ship fanart is even based on/redraws of canon scenes, that should tell you something.
> he thinks it's about video quality
If you want your disks to be compatible with most players (and don't loose money you spent manufacturing them), you need to obey the standards (I don't think serious companies would even work with non-standard content because they can't guarantee that results aren't broken by some hard to notice bug). One of the standards defines that video should have a maximum bitrate of 40 Mbps, with short occasional spikes above that (that should fit into decoder buffer, which size is also defined). So, if their greed made them sell disks with only 12 minutes of an episode for 100 dollars, it wouldn't look any different from current ones.
Two or three episodes without extra content can't even fill the whole 25 GBs on single layer BDs.
I don't know about those other two shows but the thing about No.6 is that it was also based off a light novel that already had them going explicitly romantic, so people going into the anime could (or should) have expected it to happen.
Yuri on Ice is an anime original. Actual homo just doesn't happen in stuff like this, so it's still one of a kind.
The staff themselves have pointed out Yuuri's issues before, the same ones people have been complaining about here. The anime itself also points how that Victor can be selfish. There's a foundation there.
The real reason is something with the rental market and BDs that caused a situation that collectors basically just accept now. Or so I've heard. Wait a year for the US release and you can get them all for the price of one Japanese volume.
I'm pretty sure there were more since then. There was a thing with a very "uke-looking" magic pretty boy needing protection but it seemed like shit so I didn't bother remembering it.
Obviously there is shit like Servamp, but even then its not taken to even significant subtext. The creators are afraid of committing to the fujos even though they fund the anime.
Someone actually brought baldfat dolls to a competition
It was not Servamp, from what I remember it was like YnM, 100% for fujos and definitely "significant subtext" aka ambiguously gay deep bonds in a show shallower than a puddle.
What are the odds of the other boys getting nendoroids?
Is that Wikipedia? Do these people just post paragraphs of their own writing there and expect it to be considered a valid resource or what? I don't understand why it's even allowed.
That's just a coincidence but I do wonder if Yuuri and Victor were at least partly inspired by them, and especially with how iconic in pop culture/anime Kawoshin became in Japan. It's almost like Baldfat wouldn't exist if Kawoshin didn't, or at least in the same way.
Enjoy her till the end of current season, anons, since young Russian women figure skaters have been like consumer goods for past five years. Big win and then immediate fall.
The most solid prof they see each other as a couple is Yuri asking Victor what he wants for Christmas. Christmas is a pre valentine day in Japan, celebrated by couples only, it's not even a holiday. After that Yuri buys the rings for them as a Christmas gift because he couldn't thought in nothing else more fitting. At the restaurant Victor says they're not married, they got engaged and the ceremony will only happens when Yuri wins gold.
You guys need to realize it's a relationship under Japanese optics. They were dating, now they're engaged.
The anime ended so it's once again safe to visit the local rink? Because when I went as usual at the beginning of the month some flying plump lady suddenly emerged from the side, crashed right into me and slammed me right into the boards, face first for good measure so my nose got broken.
Sayo didn't work on Eva in the way yoj are thinking, she only did Misato's flashback in 2.0, that was her style.
Hiramatz did work in every animated version of Eva tho, animator director, key animator, illustrator, etc.
But in the end it was Kubo the one who came with the initial character designs, and she has no connections to Eva except maybe watching it. I think it was a coincidence because Yuuri being a plain anxiety riddled Japanese boy and Viktor being mysterious was needed for the plot.
I would say Viktor is the anti-Kaworu. Eva stafg have constantly refused to humanize Kaworu and show him with negative emotions. Both Viktor and Kaworu gave unconditional love, except in Viktor case it backfired horribly because Viktor's lack of voice and lead in the relationship made Yuuri doubt they had anything outside skating, while Shinji was fully convinced they had something special: "You betrayed my feeling" "I loved him too".
Them holding hands down the street and Victor putting his arm around him after the ring scene was pretty couple-ly. I wished they should more of their interactions outside of skating like that. I want more SoL episodes.
I know a couple irl who went through all this angst drama after actually just getting MARRIED (not just engaged) because they lived and worked in two different places. It kind of reminded me of it. Thankfully they worked it out.
Both were trying to find a way to be together without interfering in each other future's decisions, they didn't want to be the result of a decision. Turns out Victor and Yuri still like to skate as long they're together. Not only Victor had lost his inspiration but Yuri too, in the end they noticed there's no shame on being together to keep their inspiration alive.
Or maybe she was just trying to depict anxiety attacks faithfully? It doesn't necessarily mean that she was inspired by Shinji. Then again, it can be true. I guess we will never be able to tell.
Even with Japanese optics it's difficult to believe they truly comprehend they're engaged to each other when the drama of 12 was "oh nooo Yuuri is going to retire which means we're done for!" They really did take the airport scene at word value to mean their relationship has a time limit.
I don't think it's bad, really, because their autism is quite understandable given their personalities/situation. It just works within the context. Of course, if absolutely nothing changes in S2, then it will become obnoxious.
I'm worried that it will inevitably continue into season 2 and not improve because they, meaning the writers, feel the need to tie their relationship so heavily to skating so that they can keep their sports genre logo.
If they hadn't shown/told early on about how Yuuri is autistic and completely inexperienced with love in general and how Victor has literally paid no attention to the relationships in life until now I would understand, but at least there is explanation. Also, they're different people. I hope they explore this more though.
She's the most fan-friendly mangaka I know.
