Just don't rush through 8 when you do start it. It's pretty slow paced and it's actually written with a monthly schedule in mind so if you read too much in one sitting there'll be too much information to process properly and you'll miss out on a lot of the subtext and what makes it good.

I genuinely think that the series gets better as it goes along, probably becuase I'm a writer and appreciate Araki's growth and maturation in storytelling and characterisation over the years. Some characters from 7 and 8 are literally just objectively better versions of characters from 1-6, and the quality of what he produces nowadays far exceeds everything that came before it. Not that any of it is bad, all of it is good it's just that it gets better as it goes.

I mean they aren't meant to be the same character and Karera just references her but she still kind of seems a bit yandere but in a more realistic way. You just gotta put some more thought into it. She fucking hated Kira for spending so much time with Josefumi when she couldn't and the last thing she said before running off after the fight with the Aphex Twins about wanting to fuse with someone too was pretty ominous. She already saw Yasuho with Gappy and said she was pretty cute in a kind of passive aggressive way and seeing what she thought about Kira spending a lot of time with Josefumi I think it's safe to say she's got it out for Yasuho and is gonna try and do an exchange with her so she can still be Secchan's forever.
