Rewatching the episode, I really feel like the only bad thing about it was JJ's score because that was a fucking travesty.

Maybe also Viktor's return to skating, but that depends on how it goes from here. If he's shown to be the totally unbeatable monster from before, then yeah, that would be contrived as hell, but seeing him struggle with his career while his age catches up to him could actually be rather cool. Perhaps I'm just addicted to his suffering at this point.

Anyway, seeing how deep their issues run, I'm glad that they didn't kiss. They really need to get on the same page.

Nah, the kiss didn't happen because it would feel out of place in this episode emotionally. They just discovered the extent to which they didn't understand each other. Yuuri also fucked up royally during the Viktor cry scene. (I'm not saying he's Hitler, mind you, but he really spilled his spaghetti there.)
I actually like what they did with them, having them express their emotions through skating, making up in a cute way when it really counted and general closeness but without a kiss. It shows us that they are very much in love, but that their relationship still has a long way to go.

Are you fucking joking? There were multiple moments in which a kiss would've been PERFECT. I was actually on the edge of my seat anticipating them, because the set up was so ideal and it would've felt so natural. Pic related, the silver medal teasing (how can you justify that sort of sexually charged teasing if an innocent kiss would feel 'out of place' emotionally?) and the pair skating could've all had a kiss and been just right.

We just need to admit that we got blue balled. It's not 'baiting' necessarily, they've already gone too far for that, but they took the typical anime route out of avoiding couples getting physical because Japan is retarded. I see hetfags complain about the same thing pretty often, though usually more about sex in harems than kisses, and it's just insultingly infantile writing meant to keep us all hooked and hoping for more.

All the people who think Yuuri has a 'mental illness' are just people who haven't been married to a japanese guy like I was. Yuuri is Japanese, and his attitude is totally common here. In Japanese, there is a saying that totally explains his behavior:

「釣った魚には餌をあげない」

It means that "You don't need to feed the fish you caught'

Yuuri thinking that Victor's face was priceless when he started to cry means that he's conscious of having caught him. Then he gives him the rings, for whatever reason he says it is. But he perfectly knows that for anyone, that would mean much more. He already 'caught' Victor, so he perfectly knows the effect these rings have on him.

He doesn't say 'I love you' because like a 'manly' Japanese guy of few words and who expects you to understand his feeling even when there is only silence, he thinks there is no need for that. The rings are already enough.

His problem is that he is completely forgetting that Victor isn't Japanese, and what he's doing, the way he's behaving, like touching silently his hair when he's crying, ISN'T ENOUGH for 'us'. What he's doing is the reason for SO many divorces between interracial marriage partners with the groom being Japanese. The only way it can work is when the groom is a foreigner, and the woman Japanese, because even after they married their wives, foreigners often still treat them like love interests, saying 'I love you' and displaying signs of affection.

The only solution for Victor and Yuuri to have a chance, is exactly what S2 implied: that they live together. If Victor is patient enough he'll manage to make that japanese ice cube melt. If not, well, I already can see all the drama that is going to ensue, and it's not going to be fun. Or is it? I want Victor to take the matter into his hands and transform the whole apartment into a pig hunting area.

For me this 12th episode was well written for the reason that the public is supposed to be Japanese.

My problem with this ending was that the best emotional climax of this show was in episode 7 and up through episode 10 they seemed like they were going for an even bigger climax. I wouldn't complain about the lack of kissing or marriage or whatever if Kubo didn't deliberately bring them into the storyline and then refuse to give us any sort of closure on the notion. Depending on when S2 airs, I will be doing this.

I think that the reason Viktor didn't get to enjoy life and love during his career was that he had a serious case of tunnel vision. Because of that, he lost a sight of what was really important and had no opportunity to really establish any relationships. Other skaters train just as hard and they still have time for their loved ones, Viktor was probably just too single-mindedly focused on his goal.

Now he has an established relationship and with a fellow skater to boot. It shouldn't be that much of a problem for him to enjoy life and love now even while skating.

I also think that a large part of his angst over skating was that he outclassed everyone so hard that he only had to focus on beating himself and that was very isolating. It likely sucked out the joy out of skating for him. Now that his records have been broken, he probably feels competitive for the first time in forever.

I am still not sure how to feel about his return to skating, but when I look at the other episodes without assumptions that he's going to retire, many of his actions can be read as both evidence for retiring and evidence for finding new inspiration.

I knew nothing about figure skating when I picked this up but I fell in love with it very quickly. I'm still disappointed they only showed the butterfly spin of Yuuri's FS only once, it's my favorite.

I don't get why everyone is saying Victor is competing again for sure at the end of the episode. What I got from it is that Victor said he would compete again if Yuuri really wanted him to stop coaching him, then they agree that they want to stay together anyway. So I guessed that Victor became both Yuris' coach in Russia and that there was a pair skating scene just for symbolism, since it's on a love song about baldfat. And even then, the ending was ambiguous anyway, to me there's no confirmation for both cases. I know I talked about it some threads ago but it's still nagging at me somehow.

All those anons who got up my ass about the show needing less skating are BTFO. It DID need less skating to get decent character resolutions. If they'd had 13 episodes, fine, but episode 12 was unacceptable with the amount of skating shown and asspulling of plot.
