Writing scripts yourself is widely seen as coding, at least according to the programmers I work with.
I am in middle management and for all the helper-tools we have (wikis and whatnot) I write some user-scripts in python, php, javascript and perl.
They call me the coding manager and like me more than the others since I at least understand what happens when I look at their VS C#

Then again I myself wouldn't call myself a Programmer, since I've never written a program all by myself (maybe save for some Java classes back in the school days).

But it's nitpicking.

Once you know VBA for Excel or Action Script for Flash or something like that, you "code". Doesn't make you a programmer (especially not in the /g/ sense) but you code.
