Even when I was <6 years old and had no idea about anything English, I would enjoy songs in English as long as they had the vocals in a catchy tune. They tended to have better production value and just sounded better anyway.

Now, 20 years later, maybe because of that habit I rarely listen to lyrics and tend to just perceive voice as another instrument with no verbal meaning. Probably one of the reasons I listen to mostly instrumental prog, jazz and classical music.
