I think we should only count the last loop in the arc where less people suffered.

Arc 1- Rom, Felt, Emilia were saved. Subaru didn't die again. Emilia got her insignia back. Subaru and Emilia became friends.

Arc 2 - Nobody in the mansion suffered. The kids from the village got saved. Rem got "reset." Emilia and Subaru had their promise kept.

Arc 3 - The villagers got saved and the casualties were minimal. Subaru reconciled with Emilia. Personally I wouldn't consider the Interludes as a part of arc 3. It is more like arc 4's prologue imo.

Arc 4 - Their house getting burned down doesn't sound that bad as long as everyone kept their lives.

Arc 5 - A lot of people were fucked but that doesn't mean they couldn't be saved. So it was not entirely a sad ending.

I think Rem's case is the only one where it's taken a little seriously. Like the script writers themselves said in the interview. The series was never meant to be 25 episodes. Hell with their constant cut of the OP & ED they even accumulated almost 2 episodes worth of airing time. Personally I believe all they have to do is some sort of "Episode 0" which features the rest of the 3rd arc. There they can add the whole polygamy talk in the dragon carriage scene where Subaru naturally brings up this point and even emphasize on an interesting dynamic that Subaru could develop; Sometimes people only realize how they feel about something/someone when it's gone.

I agree but that's where reality strikes :/. They were given a specific budget, a specific timeframe and especially only a limited amount of time for their slot on 4 TV stations. Since they seem to have already extended their running time once by making it 25 episodes they surely were out of options at this point and the production committee was declining any more breathing room.

All this limits them incredibly in what they want but only can do. Watanabe-san mentioned that the ending is what they worked on the longest and what constantly changed throughout the production.

I'm sure that for most of the time the plan was to end it where the 9th volume would actually end but because the production of anime if a versatile and moving process they had to make a decision.

Rush and cut the ending of arc 3 to oblivion and destroy any chance of adding it afterwards in some possible continuation OR simply end it earlier at another relatively fitting point in the story. I'm glad they picked the latter cause with this it opens them the possibilities to add stuff.

Hmm, imo the two interludes as well as chapter 6 of volume 9 would perfectly fit into a double length episode, much like how Fate S/N UBW had its double length Episode 0. With this they could get people into the story again by continuing where they left off, set the mood and start of this season with a bang.

As much as I want to see it myself I can't see them ever doing a Natsuki Rem OVA for a very simply reason.

The Natsuki Rem AU gets its own full Light Novel but the way to acquire it is to buy all 9 BD/DVD and get the ticket that is included with them.

Making an OVA which costs only a portion of what people paid for the 9 Volumes would make this whole bonus pretty much pointless.

There are multiple sidestories about this kind of thing, where it's implied that Subaru has been doing this kind of stuff for awhile. Sure, he helps everyone, and is always overly familiar, but it's kind of silly to say that the way he treated Rem and Betty were comparable. I'm not going to be as biased as everyone else, but it's made pretty fucking clear that Rem was getting a whole lot more of Subaru's attention than anyone but Emilia.

I would call it off as writer's convinience, but there's plenty of evidence that Subaru is not the first human from earth to go there, one founded on of the countries of that world, and it seems the Sage who helped seal Satella 400 years ago, Flugel was also one from earth.
