Have Subaru talks to Betty before he fights Sloth again in ep 24 for ideas on how to kill him and closure for ep 17.

Suffering only has value as entertainment when it is built upon, the cycles in rezero are just tedious because even after accepting that he gets to respawn after he fucks up he still behaves like a retard after every respawn instead of learning from the previous bout and growing with it on every cycle. And then when he finally gets his shit together to break the cycle he just falls into a fresh one repeating the same mistakes again.

I know it comes from a novel and there might not even be a season 2, but season 1 leaves a ton of shit open ended and it didn't even really feel like there was a full story told in the entire season. Also make the MC less of an incapable fucking moron.

I'm currently at episode 18 for this show and I have only a few complaints. Subaru, it seems like his character drastically changes from time to time. I mean, I understand he's died in horrible, mind altering ways, and not only that, but he's witnessed the deaths of a lot of his friends. But at the same time, it's just odd how they upped his aggressiveness in some parts. It felt like it was just for the sake of the story. If he had been that way from the beginning, that would be fine, but he wasn't. Honestly, I won't say he was stupid or anything so far, he's just super fucked in the head, I get that. I don't know, who knows how anyone would change if this happened to them.

This series is broken beyond repair. It badly needed to focus back on a main overarching storyline instead of random side tangent bullshit. Why did Subaru randomly get sucked into fantasy land with this curse? Hints keep being dropped, only to be ignored later. Emilia clearly seems to be the cause, but it's never explained. Instead of anything remotely relevant, we get fillershit like an entire episode dedicated to an unproductive conversation between Subaru and blue Ram. Not to mention the lap pillow ending was terrible and made almost no sense. Couldn't there be any better idea for an ending? Also Subaru had almost no character development throughout the series, from start to finish he's nothing but a whiny unlikeable white knight.

I'd honestly make the protagonist a lot less autistic. Like, if the series was more of a survival horror series, it would be more interesting: Subaru is less functional than your standard /a/non, and that's saying a lot.

Also, have him gradually and painfully gain useful abilities, like learning how to use a sword. I'm surprised by how extraordinarily boring the show is when the protagonist is unable to fight and is reduced to basically shouting encouragement. (Note that this doesn't mean he shouldn't get his ass kicked - He should get his ass kicked often, he's just gradually improving.)

I would personally have given Emilia a fiancee or something, too.
