Look, in my language there is in fact a one word adjective that if read literally gives "the color of a tomato". A good translator would translate this one word into a similar one english word that also means "red". A shitty translator would translate it literally as "colored as a tomato". Now, I don't know if japanese has the exact same problem here, but this illustrates how a shitty translator can greatly fuck up the text by not converting epithets properly.
