books are good throughout. season 1 was excellent, though cuts a lot of stuff. season 2 was rushed as fuck, cut everything and changed the artstyle to generic shit, but spent more budget on backgrounds and you lose so much of the narrative and additional content from the books that season 2 is much, much worse and makes the plot and character motivations seem way more retarded than it should be.
