It indeed had a lot of QUALITY moments but I genuinely think WUG did right things other idol anime messed up on. I'd say they're showing a much more realistic view on what the idol scenes looks like as opposed to say, a show like a Love Live (especially Sunshine).

So obviously since idol shows are meant to promote escapism GUP is nowhere near as popular as Love Live is.
