It's a good sports action series with pretty exciting matches with a lot of twists and turns, nice characters, and some fun and fairly astute football references. Plus great fanservice. Ignore the other anon, he's just slagging it off without having read it because he doesn't realise the romantic element isn't the main plot.

I dropped the series at the end of the first match of the, I suppose, first championship.
Didn't care about the romantic plot, but I liked the sports side of the series... however I just couldn't stand the girls of the MC's team.

Besides mai, who I thought was a funny (yet not that original) character, all the others seemed to be just directly taken from tvtropes... if you wanna read it, give it a try. If not, there are more sports manga out there... however I don't know if there is one which such a level of fanservice as this one.
