There was nothing I didn't like about it, it just didn't stand out to me.

Only part that I found interesting was the movie mystery. Everything else was boring along with the characters. Actually I felt like they could have simply removed Satoshi and Mayaka without too many problems.

It's a masterpiece.

Only gets better with every rewatch. The build up of character development, the well crafted mysteries that appeal to people who want something fresh from classic murder mystery, and the amazing production values.

It's a show that you have to pay attention and you have to care for the characters in the beginning, which is why people don't like it as much.

I could call that otaku pandering but it goes deeper than that. Most young people identify with this kind of garbage because they project or want to project themselves as super capable people, who just happen to live garbage lives because they are lazy and can't be bother to do anything ''tiresome''.

Berserk has spoiled me bro. I want to watch something as good as the Berserk manga but instead of reading it I want to watch it. I know this is a lot to ask for considering how shit anime adaptations can be. I watched a fews episodes of Kill La Kill yesterday but became bored of it after 2 episodes (I'll probably pick it up later.), I want something a bit more serious, something with drama, action, and a plot that isn't complete shit would be nice.

Maybe you should get a stick out of your ass if you really think that people like Hyouka because they can "self-insert" into Oreki as you say.

Oreki says in the very first episode that he doesn't put himself on a pedestal or look down on high energy people. He just can't live that life.

However by the end of the show it's quite clear that he's a hypocrite, he wants to do all sorts of stuff. The whole point of Oreki is that he's getting out of his comfort zone, an encouraging message to the viewers really. When he starts seeing himself as "special" he gets shut down hard, his detection ability only really super effective when he is with his group of friends. Also shitting on a premise is a really bad argument.

Nothing in the manga really comes close to golden age arc. It gradually goes form great to mediocre. Well at least the best part got a good anime adaptation.
