It's シャロ you have to type sharo to get that. Don't know why it's translated to Syaro.
And Sharon is a real, normal name too. Even though Sharo's name is a word play with kilimanjaro.

There are at least two types of romanization (I'm a dumb retard so I can't remember their names), the one that uses "sya" instead of "sha" is much less used but since the GochiUsa OP said "Syaro" most people go with that I guess. I use Sharo because I find it cuter.

I've noticed that in english most of the time it just doesn't matter how vowels are pronounced. I've heard the word "the" being pronounced as "de", "di", "da", "duh", or sometimes just "th" with a silent-ish nonspecific vowel sound at the end. You could probably eliminate most vowel sounds from a sentence and still be perfectly understood.
English starts making less and less sense the more you think about it, so it's best to just *feel* it.

It's not -Sha- ro, that's just the closest approximation to the pronuniciation using English phonology. Syaro more accurately reflects the Japanese spelling, which is spelled Syaro but pronounced ɕaro due to a natural assimilation of the S and y sound. It's very similar to a Sh sound but it is -not- a sh sound. Spelling it Syaro is more accurate to the Japanese and doesn't mislead the an English speaker with an incorrect but similar pronunciation. Sharo is only a spelling for the convenience of an English speaker not interested in learning Japanese. Syaro is the spelling for those actually interested in understanding Japanese and the detailed nuances in pronuniciation. If you don't care to pronounce your waifu's name fully correctly, spell it Sharo. If you are interested in pronouncing it as SHE would, spell it Syaro.

>紗 may be a silk product, but the word for silk is 絹 (and nip uses katakana for Silk Road anyway).
It was specifically 紗路 for the Silk road reference while maintaining the readings for the name. Her full name is 桐間紗路, which is you notice the 名字、it references Paulownia tree, which was one of the most famous features of one of the seven most important cities connecting merchants along the Silk Road, Quanzhou. It's an historical reference. The rest of the names has other multi layered references.
>>
>>150894982
>Syaro is the spelling for those actually interested in understanding Japanese and the detailed nuances in pronuniciation
No, that's what learning the actual language is for.
Your post is nearing towards touching on euphoric changes, more specifically イ音便, but they don't need a romanisation system to help explain that.
One thing worth mentioning is that different regions/dialects often involve different shifts to what you are trying to refer to.
>If you are interested in pronouncing it as SHE would, spell it Syaro.
She wouldn't spell it using the Latin alphabet, considering the language used is Japanese. Maybe work on expanding your knowledge a little because these are non issues to actual Japanese speakers in the same way that how English speakers have their names rendered in 片仮名. It's not something people care about because the fuss surrounding how Japanese are instructed to properly write their names involves 漢字 not ローマ字. Literally a non issue.
>>
>>150896460
Syaro is a useful spelling for a learner to get them thinking about the proper pronuniciation instead of trying to pronounce it as they would in English. If you want to rid yourself of your accent this is essential. Of course at a certain point you'll not use romaji in learning but I think by then it'll be too late and you'll just think it's pronounced like English "sh". It's a mindset thing and can help clear misconceptions. I also think D or L would be a better choice instead of r but that's too far gone at this point (Syalo or Syado). Well d would be too confusing if you don't understand phonetics and L wouldn't exactly reach the goal either. Neither is exactly suitable either and the r sound is usually somewhat covered when learning Japanese anyways since English speakers are aware of the difference. Still Syalo would be a better application of the English alphabet to represent japanese

No it doesn't, at least not for Quanzhou. You're thinking of the tung tree; Quanzhou even used to be nicknamed Tung-Tree City.

The rest of your post seems legit though.
>>
>>150896110
Another thing worth mentioning, the paulownia tree is "spelled" 「桐」. The paulownia tree as it was named in China at the time was 刺桐. When you see the name in full it basically reads out a narrative:
桐 (paulownia tree) 間 (space/avenue) 紗 (silk- sign of wealth as per the cloth worn by richer merchants at the time) 路 (road). The tale of a young girl with a wealthy air about her, a prize attraction to those coming into the region. An account of personality. Chino has a similar narrative behind 香風智乃. Aromatic, graceful and in possession of knowledge.

>>150896867
>Syaro is a useful spelling for a learner to get them thinking about the proper pronuniciation instead of trying to pronounce it as they would in English
That's what IPA is for. I'm sorry but you really don't know enough about Japanese, based on your two posts on this subject of pronunciation. Also, there is a reason why tongue placement for pronunciation is very common to teach learners, because it demonstrates what actually occurs when natives produce these sounds. Get over your obsession with romanisation because it has very little do to with "accurate" pronunciation. You're coming across as an EOP desperately clinging to the only thing you think you know.

>>150897072
>You're thinking of the tung tree; Quanzhou even used to be nicknamed Tung-Tree City.
No, it was nicknamed Citong City, after the Arabs mistook the Paulownia tree for olive trees, called zaitun. 刺桐 is what the locals referenced because cìtóng sounds like the Arabic zaitun. It was a historical misunderstanding from the traders and it stuck ever since.
>The rest of your post seems legit though.
All of it is. These aren't things I'm making up. Feel free to research anything posted.
>>
>>150897420
I've only ever seen the chinks refer to paulownias as 泡桐 though. And there were plenty of tung trees back then too.
