I'd probably dislike Bakugo if the series played him up to be SUPER AWESOME. Instead, they kind of admit a lot of things about him are heavily flawed and straight up wrong (ie, him failing the license test, something nobody thought would happen). The problem is that Hori hasn't really had him grow or change from these experiences and I think this fight is probably the last chance I'm going to give Baku to stop being a shit because if he doesn't grow up a little bit more after getting his shit kicked in by Deku, I'm going to wonder what the fuck Hori is doing

This is pretty much my issue with Bakugou too. He saw how better the students were during the Hero/Villain test, showed sadness when he listened in on Todoroki explaining why he was born, and recently, wondering if almost everything he believed in was wrong. But every time he opens his mouth, especially towards Deku, he's like the same guy from Chapter 1. I'm hoping this fight will finally have him actually progress as a character instead of just saying one line and then returning to normal.

Isn't this getting a bit old? I felt as if Bakugou had gone through his fucking inferiority complex way back in the origin chapter. He's been parroting the same "b-but you were always below me" crap since the first arc, and Deku's had his "I sticked around despite you treating me like shit because you're just that A M A Z I N G" line for about the same amount of time.

After the rescue arc it finally looked like he was starting to respect Deku, as if the character was undergoing some sort of meaningful development, and now we're back to his original characterization. 2 weeks waiting for a uninspired fight scene that was solved via asspulled powerup, right after a filler mini-arc. What a fucking disgrace.

The dumb part is that the characters who've been developed the most are probably Ochako in the sports tournament (demoted to bland love interest immediately), Iida (demoted to literally who, hasn't done anything in ages) and All Might (the guy who started the whole plot because he of how quickly he was becoming obsolete). Also Todoroki if you count going from CRAWLING IN MY SKIN to moe fujobait as development. And the actual main character has done nothing but play second fiddle to other people's development as the world's top hero therapist/useless apprentice.

She left her saccharine designated-love-interest personality for a few moments and showed she could have a drive of her own, that she didn't exist solely for being the third wheel among Deku and Iida, both more interesting characters than she had been up until that point.

She also served to demonstrate that the Power of Frienship™ wasn't going to be an omnipotent silver bullet within the manga and that everyone in UA wanted to be at the top and were willing to fight for it, even the girl whose personality could be perfectly summarized as "cute and bubbly"

Then the next arc came over and besides a gag panel with her making a scary face and tackling Toga it turned out all that didn't matter whatsoever

She basically realised that she didn't want to just "be a hero" as a job, she genuinely wants to grow and follow the path of being a great hero.

What she now needs is a moment where she realises that being a hero means caring for others whatever the cost in the same way the vigilantes opening chapter laid out. As it stands she and kacchan will never be anything more than endeavour style "powerful" but ultimately selfish and self centered heros. And Ochako might not even advance beyond Mt. Lady tier - phony, self centered, and not very powerful or popular.

His MOTIVATION may be a sign of character development, his actions are the same dusty shit we've had from the beginning of the manga. And it was already known that he had some common ground with Deku on idolizing All Might, which was explored far more effectively on his origin character, and makes these last couple chapters look all the more dissapointing by comparison

You have transcended speedreading and have ventured into outright skipping chapters entirely. In this bout he did not at no point complain about Deku "surpassing him" nor did he ever did. He hated Deku because he saw him as beneath him and saw him trying to help him as a sign of pity because he at a young age only ever responded to as praise..

Nope we just saw that he liked All Might because he was a really strong hero who nobody could beat which is what he inspired to be which was different from Deku who saw All Might as figure who was always there to save people. What these chapters have showcased was that Bakugou felt just as guilty as All Might exposing his true self to save him as Deku did which showed a rare instance of humility from him. I'll continue to call your dumbass a speedreader because you have failed to actually prove that you know what you're talking about and have failed to prove that you actually follow this manga so your complaints are pretty much worthless.

I have to wonder if the people who say this shit don't realize that her prime motivation through that confrontation was also centered around Deku? Wanting to be like him, Wanting to meet up with him in the semifinals were her prime motivations during her fight with Bakugou in fact its not until recently that she decided to do things her own way instead of thinking about Deku but you would know this if you didn't speedthrough chapters at a time.
