I really don't like it. The plot went nowhere for a long time. It's still the same formula as ever despite trying to go for a different story, and there's some dissonance there. Despite being focused in a mystery that one would think was planned out from the start, we're already seeing inconsistencies. The art is as bad as part 6's worst. The sameface syndrome is stronger than ever. The characters are not very likeable. The fights don't feel very satisfying. This is a combination of stand powers that are either poorly defined or not very practical, resulting in resolutions that don't really feel like the enemy gets outsmarted. Despite disliking Joushuu, I think he has one of the coolest stand powers, simple and versatile. Yet you barely see it in action and when he gets his own arc, it's used in an awkward way.

Stand's powers are based con the user's soul. What bizarre powers would you have?

Serious question:

First off, I am not arguing that SBR is the best part. However, I do stand by the claim that it is very good.

Now, is the SBR universe the best reinvention of a manga ever? JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is 30 years old, has 8 parts, 2 continuities, and almost no downtime between publications. The fact that it has this amount of longevity under the same mangaka is insane. Manga doesn't last this long unless it's trivial weekly gag bullshit (feel free to tell me an exception). Generally anything that lasts this long with this much depth in comic frm is American superhero bullshit.

Has Araki achieved something truly great with the SBR universe as a concept? I don't know of any other single mangaka or comic artist/writer that has managed to so thoroughly transform their work and maintain both quality and relevance while keeping the spirit of the work largely intact.

I'm only willing to put in as much effort as Araki did.
Vento Aureo was just such wasted potential, it had a great supporting cast, a great villainous group (whose leader ended up not even fought by the protagonists), and solid fights, but then we ended up with a bland egg protagonist, a villain with lame motivations, the least interesting deaths in the series and Vaccine Snake.
Also, Fugo fucked off halfway through the plot because Araki didn't want to go through with his original storyline because reasons but couldn't think of anything else for him to do.

But I suppose it did give us Black Sabbath, so it's not all bad.

Since we finally got to the final fight in DiU, I'll just say here why I think it's the best final fight in entire JoJo.

First of all both parties (Josuke and Kira) receive no modifications to their primary abilities during the entire fight (BtD never gets used again past its arc, Stray Cat doesn't belong to KQ) so the entire fight is just the two using their powers in old ways but with simply a new spin on it that calls back to previous events in the entire part.

First of all Josuke's homing missiles for example are variations of the projectiles he threw during the Ratt fight. The trick with him flying away from an air bomb with the pavement in his wound also references his uses of CD during Highway Star.

Even Kira's bombs during the fight reference past events during the part. His trick with Okuyasu is directly lifted off from the way he left Aya as a landmine and references the way he killed Shigechi by detonating the bomb after he touched the handle. Kira's air bombs are also just him using what he knows so far about Stray Cat to his advantage, stuff that he learned during his fight against it. Even the teamwork between Kira and his dad was excellent, since it developed the father-son bond even more while also giving him a great advantage in the fight.

The fight isn't perfect (It didn't need Hayato to be super smart) and I can understand why some people don't like it (Not liking Jotaro and co being deaf during most of it) but I still find this fight the best in all of JoJo's final fights, despite loving them all. Other fights were great, but most of them relied on a sudden development (GER/Tusk ACT 4/MiH) instead of working off of existing abilities. That's all I have to say.

It's actually staggering how long JoJo is and how it's still in publication after all this time to the point of being one of the top longest running franchises in Japan (up there with the likes of Lupin III, Gundam and Godzilla).
Let's consider this for a moment: when we combine the total sum of pages from every single part, the result is that overall, JJBA has 23.048 pages (as of Chapter 59 of JJL).
So far, JoJo has 117 volumes, and, as of JJL 59, 905 chapters in total.
I did some counting on the raws and I estimated that, in general, each JoJo chapter is around 950 words long (this is counting the visible SFX, Stand rushes, character/Stand bios, etc).
950 x 905 = 859.750 words. JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is 859.750 words long.

To put this into perspective, the entirety of Homestuck is 812, 424 words long. The traditional King James Bible is around 783,137 words long. All of the works of Shakespeare combined have added up to 884, 421 words long. It's insane.
Never mind how Araki seldom takes breaks, had to push out drawings like pic related on a weekly basis, and he constantly uses the backspace for things like doodles, art cards, character bios, and stuff, AND he still releases artbooks, one-shots and other side projects every now and then.

If you ask me, it's astounding how long Araki has been keeping up JoJo and how he has been ever increasing it's quality in the past 30 years. JJBA's mere existence should be impossible on most logical regards.
But it's not like Araki has ever cared aboug logic in the first place.
