Let's all appreciate how well-executed the "ohayou Cocona" foreshadowing was. Oh. I figured out how this anime ends.

It turns out the Mimi explosion event was something that fucked with absolutely everyone's memories. Nobody has any idea what happened except maybe one person... Not even salt.

This explains why Salt has no inkling who Cocona was despite the shard in her leg, how Papika is suddenly young (the amorphous children are all younger, indicating they were cloned after Papika if she's a clone, and FLFL doesn't seem to be all that well-funded), and why Papika *seems* to have been present back in the old days.

It might also explain why the KKK is a cult with crazy rituals when it seems like they were legit doctors before.

Yeah, the way things are drawn is really pleasing. In other anime you see characters which are drawn with these ugly gradients and have so much stuff... jutting out of their designs, it's especially noticeable in the eyes and hair. It makes stuff look so cheap.
