Dedushka was ruggedly good looking in his youth. He had a sturdy built too, like he was muscular but the kind of muscular that was built due to practical hard work and not just in the gym. Babushka was a pretty woman, slender and small, who was extremely beautiful and it was love at first sight for both of them and they had a whirlwind romance and wound up getting married young.

Fairy's mother took strongly after her own mother when she was born. She also had a bit of a wild streak in her and wound up running off with some guy (who was handsome but a dick) got pregnant, then wound up having to go back to her father's house. Sure Dedushka had that mild disappointment that he couldn't protect his daughter from a terrible guy but they can't find him to force him to make her an honest woman. After she has Yuri though, Dedushka sees him and instantly is reminded of his daughter as a baby and vows to correct all of the mistakes he made with his daughter.

Eventually Yuri's mother runs off again and Dedushka is left with his grandson. He is determined to give the kid the best life possible.
