I'm reading Sword Oratoria right now and I'm pretty sure Lefiya was lvl 3 when she was being carried by her team down to level 51 of the dungeon. Sure Lvl 3s shouldn't go down to the lower floors, but that doesn't mean there's a barrier stopping them from going.

It has to do with the scores that people are used to receiving on numbered tests growing up.

If you get 60% > * on a test, or less than a 6/10 or 60/100, that's an F. Makes good sense, right? You got almost half of the answers wrong. You don't know what you're doing.
If you get 60%-69%, that's a D, which is sort of a half-failure, conditional success.
If you get 70-79%, that's a C, which is the lowest true satisfactory grade.You did okay.
If you get 80-89%, you didn't get a whole lot of the answers wrong. You're not an honors student, but good job anyways.
If you got 90%-100%, you basically aced it. You get the special gown.

On practical tests and essays, the logic used in the "answer these 50 questions" tests doesn't apply, but why complicate things by using different grading scales for different kinds of assignments?

The only argument against this grade scale is that you're autistic and can't stand not having the middle grade be the middle point on the scale.
