The other MS aside from the gundams which as stated were made to fight the MA before the gundams were made, almost certainly by Earth, or at least just Earth at the start. Maybe Mars made some later.

And Gjallarhorn was made up of people specifically to stop the war, implied I think from people from the various sides of the war, not just Earth. With them making the gundams to specifically put an end to the war by killing the MAs and most likely also subjugating the other factions.

But yeah, MArs making the MA to overcome some sort of population disadvantage and then losing control of them sounds about right and would explain why they got shafted so hard and had so many restrictions placed on them and their resource generating abilities post-war.

The point I was trying to make was that the Gundams were made to put an end to the ongoing Calamity War, not that the MA vs Gundams WAS the Calamity War. The gundams were specifically made at the tail end of the war with the purpose of ending it.

We're almost halfway through season 2, two episodes away...and we saw the summaries for the next three episodes. Unless the second half pulls some big stuff with ShinoYamagi, it got blasted pretty hard on Shino's side, just because he still seems preoccupied with his old antics. His first thought at getting money isn't to take Yamagi out, it's to visit girls. He hasn't really reacted to Yamagi barely surviving the MA attack at the base. In the end the best we can hope for is them piloting together, but I don't know why anyone would watch the series solely for them when it's really without much substance (not singling it out there, almost every pairing has no substance in this show). On Shino's side at least.

To be fair they didn't get the news about the Saisei accident yet, but I feel the same. They can always pull some lackluster shit like with Takaki and Aston in the span of three episodes. But as it stands? Total wreckage. People wait ten weeks for anything with the two and the first thing they get is this. They even took away the headcanons about anything going on in the background. I think it would just be a bizzare strategy - "let's alienate the fans of the ship for a solid 1/2 of the show and then surprise them with something amazing." So I'm guessing that's how it's going to be.
And above all I feel like they're making it really hard to sympathise with Shino in all of this. They write him in a really shallow way and back track any sort of character developement he might have gotten at the end of S1.

I personally am not really a fan of the pairing. I'm a fujo and I love Yamagi, but my tastes lean elsewhere dynamic-wise. Still, I don't think their fans are expecting an on screen kiss or even anything explicit...well, most aren't. Pretty sure at this point they just want interaction and meaningful conversations like they had in season 1.

Eugene is a romantic. In season 1 he shot down Shino's talk about sex meaning the most and only wanting to fuck what's "right in front of him" by countering and saying that love is more important, and that was right after Shino dragged him to see prostitutes. Now in this season again he states that love is more important, and uses that to turn down going to a prostitute. He's definitely matured more than Shino and has a pretty traditional and cute outlook on relationships. Someone stated that he might be the Lockon/Kai and have a traitor girl fuck him over or something, but there's too little of the show left I think for that. Interesting that maybe his comment got to Shino this time? I'd hope Shino takes a page from his book and learns to realize what's more important than getting your dick wet and spending money on it when he could get it for free with someone who legitimately cares.

Also lol if Eugene ever actually interacted with Yamagi I'd probably support it more just because Yamagi deserves better. But as it stands I'm on Shinoyama and hoping it doesn't crash and burn.
