As stated before, it's good. Just not high tier, there are a lot of strong competitors right now.

Luluco, Rakugo and freaking Flip Flappers are just too strong as Anime from several points that it is genuinely hard to call the other comfy and fun shows AOTY. I enjoyed the shit out of a lot of SoL thus year but technically those 3 are the best.

I don't have an expert opinion, but I think you can narrow the serious contenders down to Bokumachi, Konosuba, Kabaneri, Re:Zero, Jojo, New Game, and Hibike.

1. Mob Psycho
2. Flip Flappers
3. Rakugo

I specifically like the first two the most because of how they use all the elements in their medium at their disposal to strengthen the experience. The way the animation techniques in Mob and the use of color/backgrounds in FlipFlap express the emotional states of the characters push it above Rakugo for me.

Flip Flap unless it shits the bed, which is still possible with four episodes to go.

Is Rakugo really that good? have not watched it yet but im really getting the feeling it's gonna be one of those anime where the production is nice, theres something a little refreshing about them, nothing is outright shit and maybe there's even a theme and message that will give you a few feels but overall I should not be getting my hopes up for something amazing. Recent examples would be mob psycho, Konosuba and sakamoto though I think their comedy is probably quite different from rakugo, and rakugo also looks a bit more serious.

in comparison stuff I would consider amazing or close enough would be Kaiji, Shinsekai yori, reZero, Aku no hana
