Yeah, the world was slowly degenerating and the souls of its residents were fucked so much they weren't able to regenerate, so the goddess of this world asked D for help.

She created a game mechanics system that generates energy for healing the damage by using its residents like a farm, using their souls to create skills they get, then converting them into MA energy when they died. The goddess is the pivot of the system, and she's the voice that everyone hears when they level.

I like how the author decided to give a proper explanation to the game mechanics in this world instead of just waving it and accepting them as the standard for isekai stories.

Then not even a few hours after he learned to see, he got a constant flow of magic in him from storing Veldora that likely boosted his level up to S by the time he met the dwarves. I never got the point of Slime. Read up to right after he meets the dwarves then leaves and they tail him. The names giving power and stuff, the girl getting transported/summoned from WWII or whatever, the dialog in general (though that may have just been bad/awkward TL's), etc. Is there better world building after that point? What would you say makes it interesting? Kumo had awful translations but still made me want to binge the entire thing once I started reading.

Well there is more world building, but often there isn't actually much detail, it's like it's just glossing over things without actually explaining them, which can get frustrating. Though for me it's a strange story, in that it seems like me and the main character both want the story to go in the same direction, but the author disagrees and is throwing in random crap.

Manga did so much better job at drawing, design and everything. Novel looks like someone tried very hard to make spider look cute KAWAIIII!!! and attractive and failed horrybly to do so, while manga did everything so right and still spider stays spider while being cute and adorable with a lot of expressions. Something like Ainz in Overlord manga but more and better.
