The only stupid thing he did was to get all sadistic and wanting to kill the last humans in person. Zamasu arc was just hitting the continue button after failing time and time again until Zeno hacked the game. It was the first villain we kinda see turn bad as opposed to just showing up inherently evil right off the bat, and from Zamasus point of view hes not the evil one

Which kind of writer? Toei's got some of their storyboards from Tori himself and Toyotaro, so, there's that. If you mean the ones who write the dialogue and write the filler scenes, than I agree.

This arc could be the better of all DB's history if it weren't for the fact they made it convoluted, dragged at the wrong parts (wtf with the back and forth time machine travels when they could tell the story of Mirai Trunks vs. Dabura and Babidi?!) and compressed its best moments in two episodes.

Toei shits money and invests too little for it to be as wonderful as it could - or even for it to be great.

What we got was a good arc. I loved it in spite of its failings and I rate it at least as good as Cell's Saga, but I can see why not all of us fans loved it.

If I leave the other issues of this arc out he's by far the best villain in the series.

If Cell got what he wanted, he'd have Earth destroyed and so what? His drive for perfection was boring after he finally got it and his personality became as inane as (Evil/Super) Buu's.

To be fair I haven't watched Super yet, but I was really interested in what was going on with Black Goku. But upon hearing about Zamasu basically being a "kill all the ningen for flimsy reasons" guy, finding out that big Black Goku reveal, and finding out that Potara only work for a limited time when used by non-humans, I'm convinced this is the worst arc like...ever. Easily the most wasted potential I've ever seen. The only saving grace for it is Black Goku looking cool, good transformation, and Trunks.

He was up there for me, but I was disappointed with how the arc was resolved.
Goku Black and Zamasu being separate entities was a cool concept.

Gohan was the strongest being in the universe, second to Vegetto. Even if he didn't transform in super Saiyan, the Immortal couldn't be a good and interesting challenge. But Gohan seldom agreed to fight, and when he did, and even if his strength was the same, it was obvious that it was just a friendly spar in his mind. Anger... Yes, anger and the need to protect and to save his friends, weren't here, and his fighting spirit significantly lowered.
Subconsciously, Gohan used just a ridiculously small part of his true power when he fought against his father.
In order to make him truly fight, Vegetto could have torn the planet apart and hurt his wife and his daughter...
“What an horrible thought.”
He thought that all that was behind him. And now he had a thought that was like one Perfect Cell could have had.

Perfect Cell is essentially Holy but, with no morality. Freiza wanted to rule over the universe and Buu was instinctively compelled to destroy. Cell only wanted to fight strong opponents. Had he defeated Gohan at the Cell Games, he probably would've just fucked off into space without even destroying the earth, to find more opponents to fight.

Zamasu is the only villain who actually achieved his goal, even if he was wiped out by Zen-o at the end. Future Trunks' timeline is basically gone. Still, Freeza is my favorite because of how iconically he works as a villain.
