Even reading the novels, I find Hanekawa is the best, she really saves the day a lot and never boasts about it, nor does Nisio honestly give her much grandour about it when she does some really great things. It's why the Nips call her the Shadow Heroine.

Well when did Bakemonogatari first air? 2010?? maybe 2011 because kizu was original dated for 2012. But that means 5 maybe 6 years of on/off monogatari. And just like how the sales of BD in japan tampered off so did the interest on /a/. Its kinda hard to stay interested in something thats ongoing for more than half a decade.

Honestly Kis-Shot is handicaping herself to make the battle more fair for Araragi. Both slash each other apart the whole time. But because they are immortal and heal in a second, the battle doesn't go anywhere for a while.
