The absolute biggest theme and message of TTGL is temperance/balance. This is followed by the acceptance of death and realizing it is a necessary means to grow.
The Anti-spirals were "evil" because like >>150396298 said were the definition of stagnation. The Spirals pre- anti-spiral fight were also "evil". They would have grown to be a villian even worse than the anti-spiral. The spirals symbolized unlimited, unchecked growth. With unlimited growth yourself, you snuff out or stunt other growth. This is two-fold.

1- The growth of other non-spiral races (this should be obvious)
2- The growth of future generations of spiral races.

Spiral energy at its worst would not only be a cancer (literal unregulated, unlimited growth) on the universe but also on the spirals themselves. Spiral energy unchecked would not allow anyone to die as seen by Simon's ability to but reluctance to bring Nia back from the dead. This doesn't allow the future generations of spirals to grow. It again creates stagnancy perhaps to a worse degree than the anti-spirals.

There are numerous examples from the show where death is the driving factor for growth or paving the way forward. Here are a few.
-Kamina's Death -> Simon's initial Growth
-Lord Genome's Death #1-> Human Race's Growth to the surface
-Kittan's Death -> Escaping the Death Spiral Machine
-Lord Genome's Death #2-> You should get this by now...
-Nia's Death -> Simon's understanding of balance and regulation of spiral power.
There is also the more subtle example of the graves at the end being surrounded by flowers.

The fact that spiral energy needs to be regulated is also spelled out in the last 20 seconds of the show. The kid couldn't open the coconut with his drill no matter how much force he applied. It was only when he applied a lighter touch could he get it open.

Guys, I've figured out how to beat Demonbane.
If Demonbane can become all the good guys who ever existed or ever will exist, all you have to do is be more good than Demonbane.
As Demonbane can be equally as good as the most good, no matter how good that good is, they will always be on a level field as far as goodness goes.
However, this means that a good guy would never have any reason to attack another flawlessly good guy.
Therefore, by attacking this flawlessly good guy, Demonbane makes himself evil, how could a paragon of good strike another paragon of good and still be good? It's the equivalent of Jesus killing another equally perfect copy of Jesus because the other Jesus was too good.
Therefore, by making himself completely evil, all of the power of the good will have left Demonbane, and he would be powerless.
Or, more likely, there would be no fight, and the two would infinitely equal each other in goodness.
To summarize, the best counter to Demonbane that could ever exist is somebody with the power to always, without exception, be the most good being to exist at any given time.
