I'll never forget Yoko. And, there were one or two threads about her this week.
>>150390441
>forgotten characters
>posts Yoko
I don't think anyone forgot her.
I still wanna plow pre-timeskip Yoko more than any girl
>>150390441
>forgotten characters
>post Yoko
Are you sure how this works?
>>150390441
Now that it's been confirmed for a third season you fuckers are beginning to remember about her again, but 2 weeks ago I could have made a thread about her and it would have died with 4 replys at most.
>>150392969
literally who?
>>150390441
my dick can never forget
>>150391344
I fucking wish
>>150392969
she has a lot of the same problems that Yoko, just with the chance to be way better if they actually tried, she has a personality it was just irrelevant.
>>150392969
Probably bad timing. CC threads tend to get a fair amount of replies.
>>150390441
I was going to post someone, but I forgot who.
>>150390630
OP asked for characters

>just finished TTGL
What was it like on /a/ when it aired? Was it more hyped than klk?
>>150396724
KLK was a fun ride, not a hype train like TTGL.
>>150396756
I guess that would make sense, I feel TTGL had more rediculous one-up manship of itself, especially during the last 5 episodes or so.
>>150396804
There was a lot of disappointment about KLK's ending not being as over-the-top as TTGL's.
>>150396825
can we talk about how the final death of each series makes sense in KLK but no sense in TTGL tho
>>150396825
I do remember hearing things like that; I couldn't make sense of it at the time but I definitely agree with you there. Watching the last episode of TTGL made me seriously regret not watching it with /a/ when it aired.

The thing about nia's death that killed me was all the symbolism with yoko seeing it first, catching the engagement ring and giving it to simon, and nothing coming of it. I know it's very unrealistic of me to expect anything after nia showed up but I felt senketsu's death served a purpose or turning point in the story and lives of characters in the story, whereas nia's death seemed to have less of a coherent point. Is that stupid of me?
>>150397054
Yes, Senketsu's death was much more contrived and quickly past over whereas Nia's was relevant to the characters and themes.
>>150397082
But how is it contrived? He followed as the last life fibre being to go, leaving earth to humanity and Ryuko to stand on her own without him. Nia's death does fit the same pattern but there was no character building reprocussion or growth phase her death acted as a catalyst for. Care to expand on your point a bit?
>>150397082
>Nia's was relevant to the characters and themes
Relevant in making absolutely sure the theme of the entire first season is thoroughly contradicted. Both deaths were completely unnecessary and thrown in for "dramatic tension", but at the very least, "a girl outgrows her sailor uniform" has some semblance of connection to the coming of age story for Ryuko.
>>150396756
I wish both were redone
But to redo those two would mean redoing every anime that fucked up. And at least both Gainax and Trigger have nicely wrapped up and done shows in addition to those two, these were just the most hype ones they had
>>150397187
Personally, I think character deaths have to always be done a certain way to have an impact
Take the eclipse in Berserk; what was the reason for it and what came of it?The main focus is on Guts and Griffith. Griffith has been built up from the start of the Golden Age to always get what he desires, and Guts was built up from the beginning of Berserk to be a struggler. In the end, the deaths of the Band and Femto raping Casca serves as the reason for Guts wanting to kill Griffith. Aside from Guts now fighting for others in addition to his survival, nothing about the characters changed; Griffith was always going to the top, the eclipse was another step; Guts was always trying to survive, the eclipse only gave him more to struggle with.
That was just roughly put this isn't a Berserk thread anyway. Point here is building character by killing someone off isn't good writing, only do something like that if its absolutely necessary. Simon was already realizing he was worthless with Kazuma around. Kazuma was the only one pushing him forward despite being the reason why Simon was looked at as worthless. So how can Simon not be worthless? Kill Kazuma, of course. The other Dai Gurren members dying served no purpose either, and Nia's death did nothing at all. Same goes for Senketsu, he just died and everyone says "Well that wraps things up" I mean, sure it symbolizes a new beginning for the world and its characters, especially Ryuuko, but there's other ways of doing this. In the end, it all boils down to the audience going "I guess they wanted to make us feel sad". That's not what you want the audience to think, and if the deaths were written better no one would think that, this goes for all media

TTGL wasn't as much an /a/ thing when it aired as much as it was the entirety of fucking 4chan when it aired and in years to come
>>150390630
I would never forget this year's best girl.
>>150395882
No one loves Fuuka anymore, either.
I can only remember her breasts

You can read it in Korean, though.
