No, simply that Yuuri's biggest weakness has been his ability to land quads cleanly. He just got the hang of landing the quad salchow clean and barely got the rotations to qualify the quad flip. Vicchan and Makkachin are always presented as something symbolic to their owners.

Vicchan was a proxy of Victor of sorts. He was also one that Yuuri always had around because he was bad at making friends, especially when Chad and Yuuko started dating, things got awkward between him and them that he took the soonest opportunity to move away from Chad and Yuuko building their family. It had to suck so bad when Yuuri had to leave Vicchan behind but he most likely wanted to return with a medal of his own and come back to Vicchan. We know that Vicchan had to die for Victor to make his entrance.

A lot of things around Makkachin is speculah right now. But it's clear that Makkachin is one of the few beings who don't see Victor has the Emperor on Ice but plain ol' Victor. Yakov was the other one. Everyone else, including Yuuri until recently, saw Victor for his accomplishments/skating than the actual man. If the estranged family/orphan theory is correct, Victor wants to keep all eyes on him even though he knows that his days as a competitor is almost over. People still love the shit out of him, but he is not surprising them anymore. And to Victor, that is stressful because that once the crowds get complacent, they will slowly become disenchanted with you. But at the same time, he must know how empty that all is as well, but for Victor, he probably can't see any other feasible way to live. To him, Yakov and Makkachin felt it was enough. So being faced with Makkachin's morality is going to shake things up, especially when Yuuri has been looking at him as the man than skating god as of late.

It would be interesting but I love Makkachin and want him to live but choking such a serious thing to happen for a geriatric dog.
