Suzu and Hanna getting closer, the battle with Kiyoi and her having both Piruluk and Peeping Analyze's ability back, Shou-chan losing his shit, chinks appearing in Chinatsu's armor from both him and Suzuko's new resolve to become strong enough to save her, Mel becoming more obviously evil and manipulative over time, and poor fucking Narumi. Seeing how New Satomi is having previously been a LRIG, I'm even more sure of Mel being truly evil and wanting to take over Chinatsu's body. Just the entire culmination of all these different characters and their plots has exploded, and the party's just getting started. From the preview it sounds like there's going to be even more Kiyoi, and with Selectors dropping out left and right the battle between them and their LRIGs is going to be huge.

And yet we still haven't seen anybody win all five coins yet. I honestly can't imagine where they're going to go with it if it's this exciting already.

My biggest problem with Lostorage is how disconnected everyone is. In Selector, they started out with a group of friends at a typical middle/high-school, and grew organically from there.

In Lostorage, basically no one knows anyone in any direct sense, and most of the time the storytelling is done on a random encounter-esque basis, which not only feels forced, but you also don't care as much about literally anyone because of the massively divided screentime. Also, instead of deftly hinting at everyone's idiosyncrocies and backstories like in Selector, almost everything is just infodumped, a partial consequence of having so many individual, entirely unrelated characters. Did you legitimately feel terrible when Hitoe lost for the third time in the fourth episode? Hell yes. Did you care when generic starter predatory boss #1238 and siscon got loli-fied? Not at all, since we had zero reason to care about them in the slightest.

There's also the point that major characters seem immune to loss or actual victory. In Selector, a bunch of key characters that had a hefty amount of screentime were pseudo-killed off by mid-cour (Aki-lucky, Hitoe), and by ep. 8-9, a core protagonist 'won' and effectively died as a consequence of it. Contrast to Lostorage where the sole two characters that deserve the title of 'main', Chinatsu and Blandzu, haven't lost, won, or fuckanything.

There was so much potential. They could have made winning 5 coins actually allow you to manipulate not mere memories, but reality itself. They could have made the LRIGs warped, manipulative memory-parasites instead of helpful avatars that only become manipulative if you treat them like shit or if you're a terrible person. Instead of having shit of consequence happen, somehow we have yet to have had a single actual twist, and we're 2/3rds through. Worse, they've wasted all this time on literal bullshit, like an entire episode's worth of Suzu training.

Wasted potential.

Then you weren't paying attention. Chinatsu trying to erase Suzuko is a poorly thought-out farce, spurred on by Mel. Chinatsu is nothing without her memories, because Suzuko has been in her thoughts every single day of her life since they met. Of the few possessions she keeps throughout her moving around her picture of Suzu and her is one of them, placed right on her desk as a motivator when she's doing schoolwork well into the night. She never hated Suzuko. She just didn't want to be bound to someone else's ideals. Now that Suzu has said she'll grow strong enough that she doesn't need to rely on Chinatsu, there's no reason at all to get rid of her. Her hesitation to involve Rio last episode and Shouhei this episode are clear evidence that she feels hesitation and regret about her decisions, but Mel and Satomi are pressuring her into continuing. It's her only reason for living right now, which is why she feels such conflict.

This was my initial theory. Like, the Chinatsu from the white guy's memories seems to act an awful lot like Suzu, and we have yet to see past Suzu from anyone else's perspective. Worse, most times that the viewer is shown a memory from Chinatsu/Suzu's past, it's the LRIG showing the memory to Suzu/Chinatsu, rather than them dredging up the memory themselves.

Suzu IS Chinatsu, and Chinatsu is Suzu. It adds a whole other spin to one of the lines in the second episode. I mean, seriously, have we seen any memories from Suzu or Chinatsu's lives that didn't have both of them present? Isn't that kind of weird?
