Spic here, I always use English subs for everything I watch, don't know if the spic subs for this show are good but I have compared a lot of spic subs vs english subs in the past and they translate sentences like shit, sometimes even leaving important things out or just compressing sentences, it's always better to wait.

I always thought they'd make Nipa the butt monkey that always had bad or embarrassing things happen to her due to her bad luck, but I'm pleasantly surprised that hasn't been the case.

Such a heart melting warm soft episode. Nipa truly is an angel and such a best girl to have around with. Can't believe there were some people who called her a meme.
Also, I guess this is the proper Nipa episode, that just happened to have sweetest guest star fanservice as well. So in a way SL broke traditions while holding to them, oddly enough.
The lack of supplies showed up finally as something that was discussed eons ago about that this is what the Eastern Front will be like, but Suomus keeps the girls well fed despite that.

Well that was an ok episode. Nipa is amazingly cute.

This season is set in between S1 and S2 of SW. During that time Eila and Sanya were traveling to north-east, around Finnish and Russian regions. That's why they're residing with the Suomus military and at times with the 502nd. And Eila travels with Sanya wherever she wants to go, which was to find her parents, as well help with the war in the east situation.

Miyafuji isn't a well known hero at this point because she broke military regulations twice and had contact with neurois directly, making her a very bad propaganda hero to praise about. Sakamoto and the others will hog the glory in this case, with Sakamoto mainly in Fuso news. Miyafuji will become famous after S2.
Don't think too hard about the frontline base scene. It indeed is a bit weird why they're all there, but it could be anything from a sortie to logistics reasons. Also I don't believe Hikari will stay with 502nd after this season is over.

Because the first four episodes were bad, the show in general is poor production quality, and they had a one week delay and will have 2 month delay with the BD's. Seriousness has nothing to do with it. The season is finally getting to good levels, but it has taken 7 episodes already to get here.

So this episode pretty much makes the EilaNya chapter from 1.5 non-canon right? I mean Nipa first meets Sanya in that chapter, and that chapter takes place just after S1 ended. But Nipa is already acquainted with Sanya this episode despite this logically being the first time they could've met since S1 ended. The timeline just doesn't add up.

Add to that the fact that Nipa isn't in the 502nd in that chapter and that the anime takes place at pretty much the same time as 1.5.

With Nipa now part of the 502nd and the new hive for Brave witches it makes no sense for her to be stationed alone at an observation post well within Suomus's borders, the opposite direction of all of their primary threats. We've also been with the 502nd from the fall of the Gallian hive until now and no mention of any such mission was made and no mention of Nipa meeting up with them was made.

This seems like the case of a sprawling multimedia series retconning/ignoring earlier minor works rather than taking the time to make sure everything fits.

We are never going to get told all the missions and sorties witches did and do. Don't think too deep into this show, Nipa was for some reason in that observation post and happened to crash into Eila and Sanya, while according to manga she has no ties with 502nd yet but with anime doing things the way it now does, she should be.
But the 1.5 could be still considered canon in the ways it doesn't get retconned with, aka Nipa meeting Sanya for the first time, before the events of this episode. It doesn't really break anything major.

I think my main issue with the 502nd is that they are supposed to be this combat hardened unit but they are all just figuring out how to use their powers and not really a team at all. I think it would have fit more if they were just a new unit with most witches straight out of school.
