This is a direct consequence of us putting DR3 on TV.

The notion that people watched DR3 with only DR1s anime for context sickens me to no end.

Nanamifag here, I'm actually glad that she has stayed dead. Bringing her back to life would have cheapened the sacrifice she made in DR2, and ruin the emotional impact that her torture had in DR3.

I think it would have been better if Kirigiri stayed dead, but you would have to be extremely naive to think that the grand conclusion to hopes peak story wouldn't end on a happy note for the characters. After all it has been stated over and over that DR3 future is a story that "Starts in despair but ends in hope".

Licorne "Lico" aka Mikagami Rei is a character from DRK that helps Yui and Kyoko on detective case. They can't tell his gender by his looks as he looks very girly so Yui just thinks that he's a boy. theres a bunch of factors that shows that he could be Junko pre Shsl Fashionista/Hp days as. Lico has a interest in manga and talks to Copycat (another DRK character) about their favourite mangas. Lico mentions a childhood friend who likes shoujo manga to copycat who is implied to be Matsuda. When Lico first meets Kyoko he suggests they should go shopping for clothes cause he thinks theres a few outfits that would suit kyoko's fashion. he seems to be very analytical to the point where he can predict things just like Junko. Lico also has a "Upupupu" like laugh in his "Ugugugu" laugh. He also is hinted to be the one that is drawing Despair Graffii on some different buildings. He also is very violent and wants to kill when he finds the culprits of the different cases to the point were he breaks a cuprits arm and steps on their fingers after yui tells him he can't kill them outta spite. He also usually takes cases that have someone murdering someone else for revenge or in betrayal like the motives that Junko proived in DR1.

I always found it weird that Kodaka never gave Aoi any spinoff material like the other DR1 characters got. Kirigiri has a series of LNs, Togami has a LN (albeit an awful one), and even Hagakure got one. Aoi is the only survivor in DR1 to not get anything.

I fucking love this franchise because of the brilliance behind Junko.
Like they handled her really well I know the writers a hack but she's just such a fun and pure villian.
Monsters are born of the human imagination and thus we want to understand the actions of a villian.
Junko is so human and so inhuman at the same time.
It's a paradox of existence like if you could do anything and help anyone from the git go but just weren't naturally empathetic what would you do?
It's a greedy world now and all anyone talks about is their own happiness why wouldn't junko interpret it that way?
It's put beautifully in a novel and I think the best way to describe her is to leave it open to interpretation.

The only reason you think the Danganronpa 1 anime is bad is because you played the game first, adaptations should be judged on their own merits and Danganronpa 1s anime is fine as it is.

Honestly the game is even worse since it pads shit out too much, everyone goes on about how you only get attached to the characters in the game, but why the fuck would anyone care about murder fodder? The game drags out the process of finding out who done it, while the anime cuts right to the chase and doesn't waste any time. Some of us are adults with jobs who can't waste 20 hours on something when that story can be told in an improved, condensed manner with all the fat cut out.

I've watched it as it was airing, I've probably been into danganronpa longer than any of the "primaries" in the thread.

I'm not a massive fan of the official DR translations but that's more due to typos and a worrying lack of polish in a few places than anything else.
In general, I'm always amused when this happens. Unless an official translation comes out massively broken or wrong or something (or something like Ace Combat 3 where the majority of the game is missing) then there's no point in having a fanTL project. Their value comes from putting something not normally in English into English, not being a needlessly intensive form of piracy. I'm not judging pirates either way, but don't conflate the two. If you want to pirate a game, find a way to pirate it. Go bug the people that crack things. Don't act like you're owed the monumental amount of work in translating and patching a game just so you don't have to pay for the official one.

AI Chiaki is more sleepy and aloof, she takes a while to respond which have lead to some theories that all the pauses is her buffering to calculate a reply. I dismissed this at first but considering how Real life Chiaki isn't as sleepy it seems to hold more weight now.

Both Chiakis deeply care about their classmates, but AI Chiaki comes off as having more personality since DR3 just has real Chiaki fussing over Hinata 24/7. And if you want to take the Chiaki spinoff manga into account it shows that AI Chiaki is capable of feeling despair and hints to the possibility of her being able to fall into it. Meanwhile real life Chiaki would never-ever fall to despair.

I think it isn’t so far from the truth that he may or should of killed himself. I mean consider:

But he isn't required for that world any-more, he says himself to Naegi, it will be up to him to do it. He now has to face the fact he failed in his mission to stop despair, it cost everyone he cared about and he himself brought about its end if he went ahead and killed Naegi.

So, what would the most honourable thing to do in this situation?

The writing wasn't very good in 1, bad in 2, and horrible in 3. I could forgive 1 and 2 because they were fun, but 3 was not a game.

Anyway, I think the primary difference between the two is that real Chiaki is a sweet and nice girl while AI Chiaki is an AI that's programmed to be as understanding and therapeutic as possible. They accomplish the same thing but real Chiaki actually cares while AI Chiaki is just performing her duty.
